Who Owns A Simmons Scope

I am looking for feedback on a Simmons Aetec 2.8-10x44 scope with Illuminated Truplex. Any comments or stories would be greatly appreciated.

I had a Simmons Mag 44 which came with a rifle. The optics looked like you had a glass and were looking through water. The rifle kept giving me vertical stringing problems. Had it bedded etc, better but still something wasn't right. Then I saw the crosshairs on the scope vibrating. Threw the scope in the garbage and the rifle has shot great since I put my Burris Fullfield II on it.

In otherwords, save your money.

I've had an Atec for quite a few years. It's not been to bad at all, but i'll not by another. It's on my daughters 25-06 when it's pooched it's done.

I had a few simmons... junk but I do have an Aetec right now, not illuminated though. Well worth what I pad for it, nice and crisp image, the adjustment is a little loosey goosey but no worse than a cheaper bushnell. They are a decnt scope, I wouldn't put one on heavier rifle, mine is on a 17HMR. I think I paid less than $150 for it at Canadaknives.com

I bought an Aetec many years ago (10-15). Used it hard on the rifle and cranked the crap out of the vertical adjustments for longer range dial-in. The scope is still in service on the rifle which I sold to a co-worker 5 years ago. Still holds zero and seems to track well still. I know I had a good one when I sold it. would I purchase another? No way. I'd sooner buck up some and get something with a better track record from a manufacturer with some better waranty. not everyone can purchase a nightforce or US Optics but Leupold, Burris, Vortex, Sightron, Bushnell and some others have been offering some decent products in the lesser-cost bracket. Overall MY Aetec was decent but I have seen others with very poor image clarity, loose cross-hairs and extreme POI changes right out of the box. of course any product from any manufacturer can have issues but I would want one that has a better reputation.

I have an old Deerfield 4x40 that is a great scope.Nice clear wide angle scope.

I had an 8 point that seemed like a good scope for the money but not to my liking so I dealt it off.

Just returned an Aetec to Canadaswords because it wouldn't hold poi on a .204
Good glass for the $120 paid but pos scope otherwise.
I wouldn't waste my time or money on another one.

There is likely to be a good one out there but the odds of getting it seem slim...

Simmons are a "value" scopes, typically found mounted on package rifles, and WalMart. They are no better / worse that Tasco, Redhead, or other chain store offerings.

You will quickly upgrade.

THE 2.8 X 10 X 44mm ATEX SCOPES ARE VERY WELL MADE AND HAVE EXCELLENT LIGHT TRANSMISION, ESPECIALLY NEAR DUSK THE CROSS HAIRS TURN A LIGHT BROWN COULOR AND JUST JUMPS OUT AT YOU. I KNOW THEY ARE NOT A $1000 SCOPE BUT WORK JUST AS WELL AS A LUEOPOLD VARX11. MY UNCLE TRADED HIS LEUPOLD FOR AN ATEX AND LOVES IT! FOR THE MONEY YOU ARE GETTING A GOOD SCOPE, I THINK LAST ONE I BOUGHT WAS $300 RANGE. I ALWAYS OWNED LEUPOLDS ,BUT WHEN WE WERE PAYING 60 CENTS ON THE US$ I BOUGHT THE ATEX AND IT IS THE ONLY SIMMONS I RECOMEND. JUST THIS GUYS 2 CENTS ,DALE IN T-BAY;)

I also have a Simmons on my 6.5x55 Swede....after many trips to the range and bush hunting...it still holds it's zero and optics as clear as they were when brand new. The names and big prices don't necessarily mean "best" just in some cases mean "better perhaps". i do not see any posts stating that the Simmons has been returned for warranty work , sure do see many others.

The Simmons brand was purchased by Bushnell and it is being used to market scopes at the lower end of the line. I believe the Aetec models were discontinued a few years ago and warranty may not be covered by Bushnell. Phil.

I purchesed a Simmons scope 4-16X40 for $100 at a gun show, had a price tag of $379 on the box. It's mounted on my wifes Rem 700 in 308 cal. It's the best 100$ i payed for a scope. This scope is made in Japan. Not sure where the newer models are made now days.

From what i've read a lot of people have slaimed that simmons is a really low quality scope, well at least for the stock combos it come with a rifle is, and also im not sure if this is true but did bushnell buy out simmons??
