Looking for a low profile mag for me SU16FX for hunting . It comes with a pinned 5/30 but you can't lay down and shoot (mags too long). Looking for a 5rd or good 5/10 pinned mag, Dealers welcome!!!

Just get any of the LAR/XCR 10 round mags....I personally like the C-Products ones, but the ASC from Questar have worked fine for me as well.

Pin it....or a $9.99 5/20 thermold from Dlask.

I've got a LAR 10 round mag, but I Can't use 10 round mags when hunting. Must be 5 rounds max.

Is there actualy a law that says that you cant hunt with more then 5 round mags ? Most people think its a hunting regulation but its really just federal law which 10 round ar15 pistol mags are legal.

I believe it's an offense to load more than 5 for hunting wether or not the mag is capable of it (ie hunting with a lever action capable of holding 9 rounds of .44 mag)

You'd be wrong.

Well thanks for explaining why....
As I understand they don't make a mag limiter for a Winchester 1892 and it's legal to hunt with.
I don't doubt you, but please enlighten me!

EDIT: I found it on page 17 of the BC regs. It is unlawful to hunt with a pump or repeating (EDIT#2 ) SHOTGUN capable of holding more than two cartridges.

;)

Magazine limits are governed by the Criminal Code. Shooting or hunting, there's only one Criminal Code.
The only exception is migratory bird, capacity limited to 2+1.

Why can't you shooting from prone with a pinned 30 round mag? We do it all the time. The mag is a great monopod, very stable way to shoot prone, at least with an AR. Not very familiar with the SU platform so I may be missing something obvious.

Yep I see it now. Where my eyes for some reason, read "firearm" it actually says shotgun hahaha. You really have to read the regs five times over and write it out word for word to positively understand!

So then 10rd LAR mags are PERFECTLY LEGAL to hunt game with as far as I can see?

Unless you provincial hunting regulations disallow it. Alberta's regs:

BIG GAME

It is unlawful to

set out, use or employ any of the following items for the purpose of hunting big game:
ammunition of less than .23 calibre,
ammunition that contains non-expanding bullets,
an auto-loading firearm that has the capacity to hold more than 5 cartridges in the magazine
etc.

It all depends on how high your bipod is or if you are just shooting with your elbows on the ground. The 5/30's can be too long. The 5/10's or 5/20's would work better.

Regulations concerning hunting vary by province...

Stuff like mag limits for hunting are more restrictive, meaning that stuff that's acceptable at the local range or gravel pit may not be acceptable for hunting.

Another exemption is the 8 rd clip of the M1 Garand. Legal to hunt with. Largest 6 pt Mule Deer I've taken to date fell to one.
