Who says lever action's aren't as accurate...

as bolt action guns? Me...until this morning. Took my new to me BLR to the gravel pit to see if I could hit anything with it, now that I finally managed to get a piece of glass mounted that was working for me, as far as fit went anyway. Had to modify the piccany rail with a milling machine at the front to be able to move it ahead a little and still retain the rear sight, but that worked out just fine. So did the scope. Despite only having 6x max magnification, ( and some would argue that with nice clear glass that is all you really need...), I was able to sight the little feller in after a quick bore sight, ( Bushnell cheapie laser bore sighter ), and 4 rounds, put the last one right where I wanted it, 3" high at 100yds. Sweet spot for the 139gr Hornady SSI at 2700fps.
Moved over to the little side cross and pumped ( OK, levered...) out 3 more, and well I was pretty happy. First load I tried in a new gun. I did try my new Lee Factory Crimp Die, and not sure if that helped or not, but I'll use it again thats for sure!











 
That's it, I'm getting one! In a varmint caliber. BLR's are so sweet I've been thinking of getting one since they have so many calibers for a lever model

I was part of the 'they' ( they that say crappy trigger...) group when I first got this gun. After a fair amount of research I decided to live with it, after all it isn't meant to be a BR shooter, its a hunter, so I told myself to learn to live with it. And ya know what? I decided to just change my perspective and now look at it ( the trigger pull ) as a 'two stage trigger'...which it basically is...and it works for me!
The only thing which surprised me is how tight the action is when it completes the feeding of a round. Granted I was using brass that was fire formed in another gun, but I full length resized it, trimmed the length to spec, and used the Lee Factory Crimp die to finish, but I still have to use a fair amount of effort to insure the breech is fully seated, ( the last 1/4" is TIGHT ), before the trigger is engaged. As I mentioned I'm new to lever action, aside from my BL22... and wasn't expecting this possibility. So the first round was kind of an experience. Couldn't figure out why the trigger wasn't working, no engagement, chambered a new round twice, then tried it on an empty chamber and realized the action wasn't fully closed with a round in the chamber. Had to use some serious grip squeeze to get the lever all the way to the stock and fully close the breech before the trigger would engage.

After 4-5 rounds both the gun and I had relaxed a bit and its all good now!!

That 1x6 scope seems to be a good match for the guns intended territory, old cuttings and small forest meadows...can't wait!

Very nice all around,....,gun, scope, caliber, accuracy,...perfect combination. BLR's are an excellent gun,..and that White Gold model is beautiful,....and the 7-08 is one of the best Whitetail rounds out there.
 
I was thinking its almost too pretty to take into the bush, but then what the hell, after showing it off to a couple of hunting buddies who else cares? Might as well enjoy it...I'll just try to keep it off the floor of the pickup, haha.

Probably get more dinged up going in and out of the safe anyway!
 
Got one White Gold in .308 last friday.
Really purdy !

Hopes it will be a shooter like yours. It won't be scoped until next year.
