Does anyone know where to buy one? Or do I have to change the barrel out and if so how do you change classification when purchased it as a restricted?

I believe you can get a non restricted acr from an outfit called Herron arms

Herron Arms will build you a non-restricted barrel out of your existing barrel parts (or parts you buy from Gravel Agency), but they don't sell stand-alone non-restricted barrels or rifles.

Herron arms does the conversion or you could find one on the EE. There may be other smith's that could do the conversion but it's tough to find one, if any one knows of any please let us know.

Ian is a wizard on these ACR's. I can guarantee he's done more ACR/FS2000 NR changes than ANYONE else in Canada.

But previous posters are correct - you can't buy one off the shelf from him - you must provide the restricted model, and he'll do the conversion. He will also verify it and have it removed from the registry after the change is done.

Be patient, Once Bushmaster gets caught up on production they will start producing the 18.5 inch barrel that is on their website. Getting one built will cost you at least $800 and if you wait you can just buy one with a factory non restricted barrel. I've been told that they should be available by spring.
Otherwise Herron Arms and Questar are your only options that I'm aware of.

Good luck. No reason why Bushmaster would start producing new 'Canadian compliant' barrels... They've promised that for years... Ill believe it when I see it. :)

Look on their website, already an option, they are still paying catch-up from the frenzy buying and once that happens they will start making other options. They aren't specifically for Canada, just an optional length.
Just be patient

18.5" barrels have been on their website for years. You still can't buy one. The one on the ee was still there the other day, was done by Ian and was priced very well indeed.

The one on the EE sold.
It was very nice.

Don't be so negative. they will eventually be available.
I'd love one with a 18.5 inch in 300 blackout.

I guess it doesn't matter much though since the US economy is going to tank before they ever get around to building them.

Don't care... got mine already. :)

If you want one in this lifetime get the restricted and do the conversion. ACR NR is a very nice rifle. Been rocking one at 3 gun this year and it doesn't skip a beat.

Getting ACR parts also used to be impossible, but as posters here have now shown; gas blocks and parts are now available through Gravel.

The 18.5" NR versions are expected to be first quarter 2014 through distributors, but I'd say more likely middle of next year they'll start showing up. (assuming another panic buy doesn't start up)
