Who sells moulds for 577-450 MH

Ok, have brass and dies being shipped to me now. all thats left is to locate a good mould for my MH III. I know that RBCS has a proper sized grease groved
mould {.468}, but is there any others out there that size at a more reasonable / lower cost?
If anyone has any info please give a product number or link so i can have a look at options.
hopingto make some noise in the next few weeks.

Lee makes dies for this. (leeprecision.com/xcart/Large-Series-Dies/)

factorysales.com (right next door to the Lee factory) lists them at $83.50. I believe they will ship to Canada (but make sure they come by USPS, ie parcel post, not UPS!)
Henry Niercychlo here on CGN can also get them for you. (He's a good guy to deal with and can get all sorts of stuff from the US that we can't due to export restrictions.0

However, I see that they are the "large series" dies so you'll need a press with a 1 1/4"-12 thread.

And it wasn't even that late at night... :redface: Moulds... moulds... Yes, got it now.

You might check out the Martini-Henry Forum (forums.gunboards.com/forumdisplay.php?15-Martini-Henry-Forum) for options as to moulds. I suspect that they'll be pricey, though, no matter how makes 'em.

Martini mould

CBE (Cast Bullet Engineering) make several different Martin Henry moulds. They are from Australia. I just got the .468" 485 gn grease groove mould & will be shooting my first bullet from it tomorrow night. I've been using paper patched up to now.
CBE does have a website.

Like camerl2009 says, you have to slug the barrel. .577-450 barrels can measure .465" to .467". Have a look at this.

only shootable martinis have that bore size the brit made guns

the nepal made Gahendra will vary alot

if your thinking about shooting a Francotte dont is not a matter of if it will blow up but when best the to do with a Francotte is to hang it on the wall
 
If you get into paper patching you can adjust the dia of any 45 cal bullet.
And the paper showing add's that certain look.
I have a Pedersoli Sharp's and a Marlin both in 45-70.
All I ever use is paper patched in them, so no leading problem's at all.
 
Thanks for the reply's, have slugged the bore and came out at .464 so would be looking for .468 mould ?

I looked at the CBE site but was unable to locate that size mold.

I did find several at a .470 size, but thinking that might be just a little to big.

As for paper patching , would have to do some researching on that. but seems like lots of work that's just for looks. I would assume that you still need to finger lube the paper patch before loading?
 
PP & lube

I finger lube over the Patch simply to hold the bullet into the brass case & then I dont bother crimping. I figure that it will lengthen the brass life. That is the way that I have loading my Snider for the last 18 months & it seems to work but..being a bottleneck case the MH is a little different & that may change as I shoot my Martini more.
Not crimping does however require more care in the use of filler over the powder.
Last time I looked the CBE .468" was on the front page under "Group buy moulds", as it was designed for the British Militaria Forum group buy, but is available to anyone.

I use my paper patching as it is, dry.
The only time I lube them is during hunting season for water proofing.
It's more then just for look's.You can decide the dia. of your bullet by type of paper and how many wrap's you use.
The bonus with paper patching is NEVER having to worry about leading, gas check's etc.
I load my paper patched boolit's the same way I do my other ammo, size,crimp and all.
