Hi everyone,

Can somebody point me in the right direction, I'm looking for a replacement safety lever for my Colt 1911. I'd like a brand new one manufactured by Colt and I'd rather buy from a Canadian dealer if possible.

I want to replace this one:

By and old style safety lever like this one:

Thanks for your help

Very difficult part to find in the condition you are seeking. Colt did a limited run of original style 1911 pistols with safety levers like that in recent years. Not sure who would stock that part other than Colt themselves. Not likely you will find a Canadian dealer stocking them but maybe could order one from Colt. Other than that check out the parts boxes at gunshows. Or post a WTB ad on the EE here. You might be able to scare one up that way.

I'd be interested too,

I gave up looking and I'm having one machined down to be more like the 1940's GI types for a clone I'm working on. There's lottsa metal there to work it down to the smaller "bump" we'll see how it works out.

Eventually to look like this...

Thanks guys,

I'll be more precise in case it may help. I just bought a Colt Talo 1911A1 limited edition replica (Colt Model #O1970A1MA). It's based on a series 70 frame and it's somehow a good replica overall but for some reason they installed this safety lever instead than a more period correct one like they did on the two other Colt replicas (Colt Model #O1911 & O1918). I need to get a O1911 or O1918 lever since they are both based on a series 70 frame as well. Preferably O1911 in order to get the finish to match. Ordering directly from Colt would be ideal but do they ship to Canada? How does one do this?

Thanks for your help

Sarco had them on their site last year, but they seem to be gone already. I've been keeping my eyes open in case they do another run of them.

Cylinder and Slide was planning a run of 100th anniversaiy 1911's, they also stated that they would be manufacturing parts as well, in the meantime occasionally you get lucky on an Ebay Search

EBAY

Thanks guys,

I found the part from Colt. The Part number is SP54436B and I will be ordering directly from Colt.

As for the Colt, I don't have it yet but I'm installing the proper thumb safety as soon as it gets here to give it a more authentic look.

I'll post some pics in the 1911 sticky thread when I get it.
