who shoots 3.5'' shells?

I don't know why I didn't notice before that Covey is a talker with mass posts, but doesn't buy any guns.

You really are a big mouth, covey. I'm into shotguns and and firearms issues, and don't mind honest debate, even vociferous debate, but you're not interested in debate, you're trolling.

You've crossed the line from being argumentitive to stupid and ignorant, for the sake of being stupid and ignorant, and I'm done with you.

After reading many of his posts,I consider Covey Ridge to be be quite knowledgeable about shotguns, and very willing to provide good information to those that ask about shotguns.Unlike some people,he does appear to speak from actual experience, both hunting and target sports.

Ya bet I am a talker and I am a Big Mouth according to CGN! What's your point? Don't buy guns? You have no idea how many guns I have bought this year alone? I'll have you know that I am connected enough to buy brand new guns for less than I can get used on the EE.

Agree on the Big Mouth thing! Troll? That seems to be some type of label that is designed to shut some one up? Like racist? Or Homophobic? Sorry, but though many may agree with you, I will not let that label stick! For your information I am also into shot guns and firearms for longer that you have been alive. Firearms issues? May I remind you that when I mentioned that Alberta law did not allow the 8 gauge for hunting and it something that when you become a real lawyer you might want to take on you replied, "I'd like to say I'm concerned, but I don't shoot animals." Not concerned? Legislation that prohibits certain types of effective firearms from legalized hunting may be a firearms issue? Obviously not into real firearms issues. I may have concluded that you were an anti but to use such a label would be just to shut you up. I don't want that.

I would like to say that I am concerned with your opinion, but I am not.
For the sake of Win/64 would you please add :dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Why is the first thing I thought is:

"Why would someone be posting Artillery shells here? WTF?"

After I read a bit I realized it was 3.5" LONG shotgun shells. This makes much more sense.

stubblejumper,
Although we have disagreed on other posts, I appreciate your kind words.
Thanks

I don't have to agree with someone on every topic in order to respect their opinions. There are several people on these forums who shoot different guns and hunt using different methods than myself, but I certainly do respect, and value what they have to say.

Back to the original question. I don't use 3.5" 12 ga. shells, and recently quit using 3" as well. I kill a lot of ducks and geese each year, (mostly geese) and don't find I have a need for more range than a good 2-3/4" shell provides. For me it's about hunting, not just shooting. If you decoy, stalk, or call them in to range, a bigger shell just kicks you harder, doesn't kill 'em any deader. Most shooters with 3.5" guns can't take advantage of the theoretical increase in range anyway. If I was pass shooting geese or sandhill cranes with BBB steel shot, or shooting coyotes with #4 lead buckshot, I'd haul out the 3" gun again. but choose not to pass shoot birds and I do my coyote shooting with a .222.

ill pass a comment on the actual topic as well.

i shoot 3" shells mostly when it comes to ducks as our mallards can be tricky little buggers and i dont like letting them get away, the extra shot helps when im not on my A-game .. but im not about to Not enjoy shooting by using 3.5's and hammering my shoulder and ears when the 3" is more than enough to take down whatever im shooting at.

when shooting for lesser game birds i'll always use 2 3/4" shells

3.5" in my opinion isnt necessary

:D Gosh I was so busy trolling for Bobby that I did not voice my opinion on the original question.:D

For me 3.5 not wanted or needed.
