I'm leaning towards SPF because most of my shooting is from a bench. The intent is 300-1000 yards.
I love the idea of the FFP scope with the reticle being accurate through out the zoom range.

My question is for anyone shooting a 1k($) price range scope with FFP - is the reticle size problematic with precision at 1k yards?

Good question ... interested in the answer myself .... also how many shoot fixed power scopes (in which case FFP or SFP is irrelevant) OR have big variables that are left on one power?

i shoot FFP at range, the retical is a big factor here, in 2 of my SB scopes i have the H59 retical, for my style of shooting (gongs rocks, some groups) i dont find it to be to thick at all, my 3rd SB has the P4, it on the other hand is much thicker, and would not work at all for group shooting, at any significant range... i stick with it as i prefer to shoot all my shots useing hold overs, as i find it quicker, easier, and no need to dial for quick range changes.. IF i were going to sit at a bench, and shoot a knowen distance for any givin amount of time, id go back to my SB, 12-50 in SFP..

I don't know if it will help, But !
I tried my new Vortex PST 2.510v32mm FFP MOA today at 400 yards on my old gong.
4 MOA down for my 243 win at this distance.
I took the second line down on the reticle; and the gong made a nice song.
I then used the Turret; 4 MOA up, another nice song using the reticle center.
at 10 X its way more then enough for my need, I can see clearly my small 8X10" gong.
I have shot with so many scope over the years; So Far I`m stunned by Vortex.
When I will get my Zeiss Conquest back from warranty, I will probably go for another Vortex FFP.
Maybe with a 4-16x50mm PST FFP MOA, for my 270WSM, or the same thing...(2.5-10x)
more to follow,
Next time I go there, I will try to take some picture of the reticle to show you.

Switching to FFP soon. Figured I might ask well try it. I do shoot at mid range power and don't trust the multipliers and zoom ring ( never tested) so I often zoom into max a lot to measure for my shots and friends shots. Distances are known normally. It's will be nice to not have to do that.

Going from a scope with a .08moa reticle to a .2. That being said it's just over 2in^2 covered at 1000yards. I shoot mostly 10 and 12" gongs at that distance so it's not the end of the world. Plus I normally shoot at 12x or 16x.

Once I have it out I'll see how I feel though.
