Who shoots Metallic Silhouette or Hunter Rifle bulls eye ?
Where do you shoot ?
How many people shoot with you, informal or league and match shoots ?

I shoot at the Sportsmen's Club Galt and Twin City Rifle Club. We had a dozen shooters in 33 degree weather for our match today.

I shoot silhouette even though it is frowned upon by my club. There is no rule against it but some regulars at my range seem to think its illegal to shoot silhouettes on a range in Ontario.

I shoot silhouette at the Stettler AB. range. We .schedule a couple of 80 shot Sunday matches and 4 or 5 40 shot Wednesday evening matches through out the summer. The number of shooters has dwindled over the years. 30 years ago we would have 20 or 30 shooters out for an evening shoot, now we are lucky to get half a dozen. A good lot of those shooters from 30 years ago have moved on to the big range. Many of the younger shooter I encounter at the range seem more interested in shooting there auto loaders from the bench at a high rate of speed. I am happy to see them having fun , but for an old single shot shooter I find it a bit discouraging.

I use to shoot a lot of silhouette at Silverdale when they had a small bore shoot every month. Great memories and is likely the toughest shooting sport out there. Maybe I should check the schedule of your club for next year and see if they permit NON-members. Haven't done it in 25 years, would be good to get out again.

I can attest that anyone is welcome to come and shoot at Galt and Twin City, just pay the match fees for the day. There are some very good shooters there on the regular (I'm not one of them... yet ;))

Nanaimo Fish & Game has held monthly BCTSA sanctioned silo matches since 1991. Up to a dozen or so faithful attending.

Hey that looks pretty familiar, When did you take the pic ?

On Sunday ;)

looks like a real church for me, I like that picture!

LOL - reminds me of the time 'ol Pastor Harry was shaking hands as the congregation left the church after services....

When he was shaking hands with Pop and me he commented " When I saw you two in here, I look had to look around to make sure I was in the right church...."

Man it was HOT at Galt on Sunday, not harldy a puff of wind neither - like shooting in a frying pan.

Had a good time with some great folks, managed to do pretty good in one class, got a "hitch in my giddyup" in the other class on 2 banks of animals.....

blame is on me for not getting in more practice....

BTW - what is hunter bullseye and are there any plans to shoot it at Galt Sportsman / TCRC?

Thx Tom

I hear ya, even though I shot a personal high score in Standard AA, I missed the entire top row of turkeys in my last set of the match, and ended up 3 hits back from the winner. Don't quote me on it, but I believe on Thurs nights during the winter at Galt, there's an offhand match (once a month?) shooting round bullseye targets. redmist25 can chime in with the exact details for ya.

Hey Gents, Small world after all. RabidMU45 is correct , we shoot indoor matches once a month on Sundays and Thursdays as well as weekly for members. We shoot scaled down silhouette targets on paper as well as the bulls eye. The hunter bulls eye is a bulls eye target with a 10 ring about 3/8 inch and an x ring at about 1/4 inch that is shot standing offhand indoor at 20 yards. The outdoor hunters bulls eye is a larger target shot at 50 yards standing offhand. We aren't shooting it outside yet but may do it next year. Pete, Dan and Scott have been shooting it at Listowel and the boys at Port Elgin shoot it as well.

Silhouetted was pretty popular at Silverdale. As I said, smallbore was each month March - Nov (?) and centre fire 2X a year on reduced targets. They only had 1-2 banks of each target set up and we would have to reset after each round. Not a problem, it was a lot of fun, great people there.

Spruce Grove and Sherwood Park Fish and Game used to host big bore handgun metallic silhouette back in the good old days.

I shoot smallbore silhouette in organized matches 180 rounds a day once a month at the victoria fish and game club
I also shoot the same format in nanaimo once a month
Then in Port Alberni once a month for high power silhouette 80 rounds
Totally hooked on the game
Anyone on the island that’s interested message me
Or look up metallic silhouette on Facebook
