Buddy has a 3" 870 Wingmaster FC that he'd like threaded for Rem chokes preferably . Any leads?

Rem chokes will not be able to be installed in his gun or any gun for that matter
Check with smiths on your aeria
one may do thin walls you are not able to shoot steel thru thin wall chokes

To thread for Rem chokes you need the late model heavy barrells the ones with heavy boiler pipe dimensions that handle like 2x4's the older lighter barrels sometimes can be fitted with Briley steel spec thinwalls but not cheap. Better off buying another Rem choke barrel. My buddy has the tooling to do Rem chokes and Win and Invector in the heavy barrels it can be done with the right size barrel but not cost effective in my opinion. All this coming from a guy that has ruined more than one barrel, :D I am not always right but I am never wrong !

Apparently you can ? Found a shotgun smith in Calgary . He's done a lot of 870's.
please show me a smith that threads for factory rem chokes
Allegedly there is somebody who can outdo the next guy...
Common sense would suggest it can be done, but will it work as requested/intended, especially when the results are so vague to its intended use.

Tacord did thread an 18" Police barrel for me. The barrel takes Remchokes now. Tested it two weeks ago with a Buck Kicker Full Remchoke choke.

The barrel needs to be thick enough ... and not all 870 barrels are thick enough for Remchokes.

Measure the outer diameter of your barrel ... and a gun smith can tell you if they can thread it for Remchokes or not.

I am not saying it cannot be done but I have seem many botched choke tube jobs done with the mickey mouse hand reamer and tap set up . Most times point of impact is way off with that kind of tooling it is a crap shoot. Briley or bust in my opinion. Gave up on cheap tube installes long ago you generally get what you pay for. Briley pricy for a reason but generaly not worth it for a grade gun.

Did it pattern to the left before the remchoke was installed?

I have had two 870s now threaded for Remchokes. Both guns were sighted in with slugs. After getting them threaded for Remchokes ... I saw a slight shift in point of impact ... maybe 2 to 3 inches at 50 meters. But then I am seeing a shift of point of impact just by changing chokes ... and sometimes 4 to 5 inches ... depending on the choke.
