I am looking to get my M-14 tweaked, I sent some PM's to some of our M-14 gurus but none bothered to reply. So can anyone recommend a good smith to tune my Norc? Specifically looking to have it shimmed, chopped to 18 5\8, refinished, new flash hider and sights.

Major Commander is right. Come to the clinic(s) and do the tweaking yerself... way more fun that way. I bring most of the tools and show YOU how to tweak YOUR rifle. Lots cheaper than a gunsmith, too.

Better yet , network with some other CGNutters who HAVE been to my clinics or 45ACPKing's sessions and have lots of fun. :D

From what ive read and seen Dlask seems to be the best bet for barrel choppin action. There price is really good and so is the workman ship to boot.

I have done a lot of work for local guys, and have facilitated many barrel chops for fellow cgn'ers and friends. I get messages everyday from guys with m14s rifles, I try to reply to everyone.... but some messages fall through the cracks. I am also asked at least 2 or 3 times a week if i will work on someone's rifle.... and if so ..... what do i charge?......

well... I would simply love to set up shop and start custom tweaking and tuning m14 type rifles as a liscenced gunsmith.... but i am not one..... and I just simply have too much going on to get it done. However if i figured i'd have a surviving business just working on m14's ..... I'd go broke pretty fast.

As far as barrel chops go, Dlask arms corp here in b.c. does an awesome job, though they are not a site sponsor. Generally local guys have come to me with timmies in hand and i pull thier barrel with my vice, we hang out a bit , the barrel goes in for it's chop and such and when it's done, said gun nut shows up again and we hang out some more and put the barrel back on .... all fun n games..... no profit for me but good times :D

^ What he said.

Were having a big clinic in Edmonton on the 8th of November and hopefully be able to do much as 45ACPKING has done in the past.

There are some good barrel choppers here in Alberta, but none that have done anything for me first hand. I'm hopping to try a few out and see if I can find one that has the time skill and enthusiasm to do such jobs on an irregular basis.

I like the "chopped " barrel so much...... and this might make ya cringe a little :D I have a Krieger DMR stainless 22 inch barrel coming for my latest build...... and yes..... I'm gonna have joe dlask chop that beautiful 560.00 barrel down to 18 3/4 inches :D .... I wouldn't have it any other way :sniper: :sniper:
