I'm looking at getting a T3 in this cal in the near future and am wondering how it performs for people.
What sort of ammo/reloads do you use?
How successful is it for you and what sort of game do you use it for?

Old badger is using his for deer this year, I'll get him to send you a filed report!
The range results we did last year were very promising to say the least.

It'll do anything a .270 and .280 will do. 140gr TSX's will go 3000fps with IMR4831 quite handily. Brass can be expensive, and sometime difficult to find, but it isn't a brass eating cartridge so if you stock up you'll be good. Fenderal used to have a factory load, but I am uncertain they still make it.

I believe Remington had a 140 grain factory load for a while in the 1990's too...uncertain, though. What's availability for the ammo like in Australia, Kombi? I'm assuming pretty good.
I think you can take any comments about the .280 Remington as applying to the 7 X 64 Brenneke. I use a .280 and think it's one of the very best cartridges ever developed, and cetrtainly my absolute number one favourite.
In 1992 in Germany I saw a bunch of 7 X 64 chambered Rem 700 Mountain Rifles, with open sights, no less. I sure wish I'd coughed up the DM 770 (about $525.00) and bought one!

I have a Sako in 7X64. I use .280 rem data to load it so that's the exact performance I get. Very nice, accurate rifle. One of my favorite deer rifles.

i own a few in BRNO -- very accurate and as mentioned -- 140 gr at 3000 - sub moa - I cant recall off hand but I think with RL15 and mag primers. I wont say that is with no sweat, I believe it does start to get near the ragged edge there.

I find the performance better of course then 7x57 and I like it way better then the 7mm Mag. It seems to fill that correct power band where the 7mag is too much velocity and recoil and 7x57 (which I love btw) may just not be enough in our larger western shot envelope in Alberta.

The brass appears rugged and long lasting with little stretch. The rifles I have or have seen are not trim light rifles like many of the 7x57, but a little more heavy (except for the BRNO 21H which is a dream in 7x64 if you can find one)

I've only started to use my new-to-me Brno 21H in 7x64. Took a big bull elk with it this September, using the factory loaded RWS TIG 177 gr. at about 2700 fps. Shot was at about 80M broadside, through the lungs. Worked as expected. I'm going to like this rifle!

I was talking to a hunter from France this year and he told me (WORD OF MOUTH WARNING) that they use 280 rem factory ammo interchangeably with thier 7x64's, when 7x64 ammo is running low/hard to find.

Gunrunner, which brass have you ordered......Speer or Norma?

Very possibly dangerous, Northman999.
The rim and head diameter of the 280 is about 4 thou bigger than the 7x64.
If you had a tighter chamber you could conceivably have big problems.

about ammo/brass availability:
I bought three bags of new unprimed Remington 7x64 brass from Wholesale Sports in Saskatoon last April, was quite surprised to see it in stock. It was cheap too! C$22/50. Norma brass is very nice, but a bit high priced. I also found some Hornady factory loads for the 7x64, loaded with the 160 gr. SST.

Mmmm, I know someone that works for WSS.
Maybe he can line up some Rem brass for me........?
Y'know, the more I look at the Euro metric cartridges the more sensible they seem to me.
The comments on the effectiveness of them by many people just proves that they are low on hype and high on performance.
One Aussie I've spoken to about 7x64 said he owns a 7mm Rem Mag as well but he much prefers his Brenneke as the muzzle blast is much lower, the recoil is less and it uses less powder to do the same task.
You can't ask for much more than that, right?
