who uses EOTech knock offs?

I'm buying one to play with on my AR style 22. Cheap entertainment if it works reasonably well.
I've thought about doing that for my AR-22... But, I've seen....
  1. How bad they tend to wash out in the sunlight
  2. How easy they lose zero...
  3. How quickly the battery's die in them (seems like < 15 hrs)

And since locally a knock off EOTech runs ~$80 + tax, and the real deal runs ~$320 + tax (sometimes lower when on sale)... If I consider the battery life thing alone over a year or two the EOTech will have paid for itself in the battery department alone (At least with how often that I PERSONALLY go shooting).

I'm buying it from Extremedeals. I think it was around $36 including shipping. Uses two AA's. Seemed to have gotten good reviews.

If you're never used an RDS optic before and wanted to give it a try and you bought a fakepoint or an eoclone, it might wrongly turn you off from using RDS permanently.

I wouldn't base any decision on whether to use RDS or not soley on T&E'ing clones. spend the money and get a holosight if you wnat an eotech'ish sight. any of the real ones hold value nicely and can be fenced quite easily on the EE.

I've got clones, but I also have real ones. Form often resembles closesly, but function, not so much. I T&E clones all the time, then fence them on the EE. However, I tend to have the same stable of real ones mounted as clones just can get the function right.

You mean something like this...
