Who uses Forward Mounted Optics?

Wondering if a forward mounted optic setup is for me, and would like to hear some pros/cons and notable differences when compared to a "less than forward" setup.

It would be going on an M14 that will ultimately face the challenges and demands of a Service Rifle shoot.

Reasons I am interested in the forward setup;
1. I like the way it looks.
2. It seems like several other M14 scope mount options are less sturdy than this setup, with fewer points of connection.
3. I feel like it might improve time needed to snap to target quickly. I like "advance / shoot / advance" shooting.
4. I feel like it clears up the space above ejected brass to prevent the 1 in a million chance of a bad bounce and jam.
5. I REALLY like the way it looks.

No idea what the optics will be at this point, although I did just read Hungry's review of his Falcon. I realize shifting the weight of the optics forward might be a factor, but I'm strong like bull!

So far, this is my favorite example so far, found on many different sites.

I am also a fan of the front mounted optics. Here is my SKS doctored up to look like a Springfield Armory SOCOM II M1A. I had the scope on the rear cover but it just didn't look right. I like it way better up front!

If you go with a forward mount, be aware that there is a limited selection of scopes available.
A forward or scout mount needs an IER(Intermediate Eye Relief) scope. Most manufacturers will have only one or two models available. For example, Leupold has only one Scout model, with three different finishes.
