who wears mackinaws or wool pant??

I got mine from Wholesale Sports and I think they are Codet, but they might be Big Bill - I'd have to get them out of the winter trunk to check, and it's too warm. I'm sure they have carried Codet stuff in the past and I suspect the Big Bill brand is getting their stuff made by Codet because they look so similar.

Meanwhile, there is some Big Bill stuff available from the online retailer of surplus/liquidation TheSportsmansGuide.com. They are American but very friendly to the Canadian market and I've got some pretty good deals from them.

I live near Magog and I just found out about the Codet wool pants.I used to wear the ones Army and Navy sold.We used to hunt elk in 40 below weather even and stay warm.

columbia gallatin wool for me too. Super quiet, warm, and the legs never freeze up giving me the lovely corduroy swish when I'm still hunting. A good base layer, and I'm warm.

I had a pair of those, but the seat is so padded it felt like I was wearing a diaper. I have a pair of codet green wool pants I bought at WSS for $60 about 10 years ago that are great.

I have those too. tag on inside says 60% wool, 40% unknown fibres, made in india. :D

But they sure are warm!! nice cargo pockets, comfy. Just gotta find a nice wool jacket that wont break the bank.

I have a Columbia wool coat as well as a Filson. The Filson is quite a bit heavier and warmer, which is great for the coldest days. The Columbia is perfect for the cold November days, but gets too warm if I'm hiking around and the temp is much above deep freeze.

I hunt in some german army surplus wool pants, and also sometimes in synthetics if i expect to be wet all the time. My all time favourites are some really nice Swedish "Elch" hunting pants of a tightly knit wool outer layer with with synthetic fleece lining. They are fantastic and the best of both worlds.

just be sure to wear a some suspenders, makes the pants weightless as they can get heavy if they get wet. i even hang kinves and bullet pouch on my suspenders so i dont get jabbed in the ribs when climbing over windfall. i wear some old wwII wool pants with marmot thermals down to minus 30. nothing better

I wear the Filson Whipcord pants - great for walking when combined with silk long underwear (I can't stand the feel of that Underarmor crap).

Funiest thing I ever saw was my bud walking back to camp after he sunk his bike in the pouring rain. They were so heavy with water & mud they bounced up & down on his suspender straps every step he took Laugh2

I just replaced my Codets with a pair of these.

When I broke them out they were done after 10+ years, I only bought these because they didn't have my size.
