Hey all,

Just dropped by to see what's going on, after staying away for a bit... This forum seems much more civilized now than I remember it being over the past several years - great! I guess we're all getting along now....

I guess it's only a matter of time, however, before Uncle Vinni comes up with some new thing to improve the Production division, and the flame wars will be back up :)

What new rules are being changed by Vince?

I wasn't allowed to paint my grips so i decided to cover them in grip tape.

I did something similiar...I used different color grip tape (skate board tape) and a small scalpel to cut happy smile face "stickers". Problem solved.

Prety sure "Vince" isn't going to like the grip tape on your base pads though.

but why? they are perfectly legal.

so....that being said, I could make a bumper pad out of grip tape ....could I then use them on my aluminum tanfoglio base pads?

Vince Pinto;
Yes and yes.

Appendix E3 previously prohibited the application of tape on base pads, but that restriction was removed from the January 2012 HG Rulebook, because we wanted to allow the use of bumper pads (see Point 16.2 of the PD rules).

.

That's the scary thing. You aren't always sure the RO are up to date on allowed mods.

Btw, I also got a stainless guide rod installed, which is approved. They also have a new stainless rod and shock buff version that is also production legal!

Lol....it's sooo much cheaper shooting open and not having to keep up with which parts are allowed/not allowed on a year to year basis...lol

The sp01 i have was made in 2006 and the only thing i've changed since then was the SS guide rod and grip tape on the basepads.

Well the open gun I've been using up until now I had built for $2000 in 1997, it's still running in perfect order and I've had to change only the comp on it. So $2150 over 14 years...it's cost me $153 a year...lol...and it still wins matches.

Good thing we don't have to listen to coach "experts" and can shoot a division we like.

Hey, shoot any division you like! I'm just saying its easier when you don't have to worry about rules changes. If you are just out for fun, go nuts in whatever division you want!

What rules changes? I've been shooting the same Production gun for last 3 years.

Well apparently you are now allowed grip tape on the mag pads which wasn't allowed before if I read the post above correctly. That's one, guide rods ruling changed to from what I gather.
In open we can, and always have been allowed to run any rid we want and we can grip tape the whole gun if we feel like it...lol
And even better I don't have to change a thing and my gun and gear is completely legal in the US ad I'm pretty sure it's the only division like that (I'll have to check the revolver rules but I know production, Standard/limited and SS/Classic have several critical differences)
