Wholesale Sport credit card problem

I just bought a rifle from Wholesale Sports and paid by Visa over the phone. The sales clerk asked me for my customer # and when I didn't have it she asked if I had ordered from them before. I told her I had bought a rifle from them in 2001, and gave her my last name and first name. She asked me if my address was still ###xx, and did I want to pay with the Visa that had the last 4 digits zzzz. I said yes, she asked for the new expiry date, and said the rifle should be shipped next week.

At least I hope it will!
 
It's the consignment ..... WSS pay the owner, Visa denies payment, WSS lose the gun and their cash.

It stems from a scam guys were pulling with vehicle consignments (go figure eh?)

They do take a chance when they sell by phone-in credit card, but the consignment complicates this due to a third party.

A straight stock sale from WSS to you would be a non-issue. They take the chance and most times it works out for both of you.
