Wholesale Sports??? Dont hold your breath

I had the Nanaimo store pull and ship 45 boxes of berger bullets out of the Calgary store for me, had them in my hand in less then 2 weeks, best part was at the till, manager didn't believe the clerk I had that many bullets as she was trying to over ride the computer rather then scan the boxes in 1 by 1, so when she told him she had them in front of her he told her to throw a 10 percent discount on my purchase.......hats off to Karen and Frank for that one, and special mention to Tony for placing the original order........

So here is a lesson for everyone..........don't wait until your out of something before you try and source it to replace what you have consumed......buy in bulk when you can but never turn down a lonely single box

The wholesale sports in Winnipeg has really gone done the last year or so, at least in my opinion. Last time I was in there, this fall, I wanted steel shot. This was a week before duck hunting was to open at the beginning of September. They had none and told me it was very hard to get this year and would be quite expensive. Stopped at Cabela's on the way home (which is far closer to me now that they moved) and they had rows of steel shot of all brands at regular prices. I have not been back to WSS since and don't plan on it. The last time I was at WSS it was a Sunday afternoon. There was 4 cars on the parking lot including mine. At Cabela's you could hardly find a parking spot. I think the end is near for WSS in Winnipeg.
Weird, I saw Score steel shot in stock on the shelf at that WSS during the whole summer and fall seasons.

Cabela's is almost a family adventure now though, the kids know they can always pester me for some fudge and my wife loves the athletic and outdoor gear. The whole family comes with to pick up daddy's newest toy and we walk out a couple hundred bucks poorer.

X2 and if the wife and daughter are done their things they go sit by the fire and patiently wait for me.

I saw lots of Score target loads. So finally after walking around for 10 minutes looking for it, I asked 2 employees. One didn't even know what I meant by steel shot.
Even if they had some Score hidden somewhere, that doesn't explain no Winchester X Pert, Black Cloud, Federal etc. etc. that Cabela's had oodles of. The year before at WSS you were tripping over X Pert in the isles.

While at Cabelas the wife and I struck up a conversation with a lady there. She happened to remark that she had just come from WSS and walked out with nothing because they didn't have what she was after. She had a whole cart full at Cabelas.
While at WSS, there was one person working the gun counter and one young fellow looking at a gun. I guess the guy asked the clerk if they could do better on the price and the reply was "no, we aren't making anything on it now". At Cabelas there were a few people working the gun counter on a Sunday afternoon and you had to take a number.
Actually, I couldn't believe that WSS would have no steel shot. It really bugged me so when I got home I decided to call customer service. I got a recorded message saying there was no one to take the call .
Really, its too bad. I actually used to prefer going to WSS before Cabelas took over SIR. I used to buy my shells there and even a few guns. But my last couple of times there has really turned me off. Hopefully they straighten around in Winnipeg.
