so I got a sierra reloading manual from wholesale sports, edition #5..... first thing I notice is it looks beat up a bit and some of the pages have had the punch holes ripped so the page is just layin in the book, thats fine whatever, I will invest in some hole fixer things.

well then I go to look for a caliber that is advertised in both the table of contents and the back of the binder only to discover that some slim ball piece of doo doo stole them, all the pages relating to reloading for the 270WSM where gone.

I am starting to think someone bought the book and then returned it and then wholesale sold it to me.... what a load of crap.

so I phone sierra's 1-800 # and they say no problem sir, we will ship you the pages your missing ASAP.... great guy on the phone and a fellow 270wsm owner and he shared some great tips and tricks for that caliber. great customer service from sierra.

wholesale on the other hand just had a "sorry but we just mailed new catalogs out and areso cheap we cannot afford customer service" recording.

wholesale sux....

Sounds like they gave you the demo book off the display rack. It should have been wrapped in cello shrink wrap. Some dipsh*ts rip pages out of the display books cause they are to cheap to buy a manual.

Wholesale sports is a great store, the selection is great, the new stores are are amazing, but, (yeah you knew it was coming) they are run like like sh!t. Their customer service is non-existent.

I spent 15 minutes waiting on hold last week before I hung up, their loss I spent 600 bucks at the shop down the road.

Great to hear that Sierra came through for you! With my limited dealings with reloading companies, it seems that most step up to the plate so to speak! We need to hear more of these stories.
:dancingbanana:

I had excellent Service from Barnes also, when I asked them for loading data on the 270WSM that was not in the manual, they emailed it to me the next day... Great Service

Another reason why I usually deal at P&d when I'm in the 'city'.:) Got the same thing from them on my last trip, Rifle & Handgun Reloading Data, still wrapped in cellophane. Glad to hear Sierra helped you out. Most of the manufactuing outfits have a 1-800 number and I've found all that I've ever contacted to be very helpful.:)

Wholesale not so bad

I have to give these guys at wholsale sports a bit of a plug. A buddy bought a brand new savage muzzle loader that was defective. He phoned them and they sent him a new one no questions asked ( In very short ime ) They even shipped it before he could get his to the post office. You just can't beat that for service.

I think they just get super busy this time of year and of course everyone waits till the day before the season opens!

Wholesales bought out Russel's just a few months ago. So if you think that going down the street in Calgary is an issue for them, think again. The Wholesales store in Lethbridge is much more friendlier. For sure some people are tearing off the pages out of some reloading manuals, can't see the point as the web is full of information, just go to the powder manufacturer's web sites or even post on reloading forums. I too shoot a 270WSM, I can provide some data, unfortunately none of which is for Sierra bullets, I shoot Hornady's. Anyways, good luck ... My WSM is a Savage model 16, it's a keeper :)

I called Wholesale Sports mailorder Saturday A.M. to order a rifle, but all I got was voice mail saying to leave a message and my call would be returned. I did so, but my call was not returned that day. Is this typical of their service or are they just super busy right now? I guess I,ll try again Monday.

wholesale's lack of service!!!!!!

i am living my worst nightmare with wholesale sports mail order in calgary.was looking to buy a l/h savage model 12 in .204,went to the wpg. store and spoke to a few people at the gun counter, was told they had a few in cowtown and it would be faster if i ordered it myself!that should have raised some alarms for me,but i left and called calgary to place my order.i also got the voice response that we are to busy for your business, well i just kept trying different lines until i got through.spoke to someone there that seemed on the ball.was told they have [2]FLV in .204 wow!! a week went by and i thought i would check to see if they shipped it and contacted the CFC for the transfer.well trying to get someone with a pulse is proving to be very challenging in the calgary store.well i finally got hold of someone to check my order status, after a long pause at the other end of the line i was told they SOLD both guns and never filled my order!!!!!! what service,i wonder how long it would have taken before they let me know!
i decided to start returning all the gear i had bought for this rifle 4200 6x24 brass, bullets etc.went back to the gun counter in wpg. spoke to a guy that manages the gun counter named denis, told him my nightmare and he took the bull by the horns and started making calls.one call to the saskatoon store and he found me a 12 FLV will be here tue. i hope.i will NEVER deal with calgary mail order again.canadian stores wonder why we mail order from the usa we seem to stock next to nothing in canada.want a refreshing experience just call sinclair international for handloading supplies

300ultramag, don't you have a S.I.R. store there? Wholesale SUCKS, there is no two way about it. How much? let me put it this way, I actually have a friend who works behind the gun counter, he doesn't much like it. I get some of the inside stories, absolutely unbelievable. I liked it back in the good old days of smaller family owned businesses...anyone remember Guncraft in Calgary on Edmonton trail, those were the good ol' days.

"the gun counter, was told they had a few in cowtown and it would be faster if i ordered it myself"

i love it when i hear that at wholesale, i've actually heard the cashier girl say that to a guy complaining about the service at the guncounter(IN CALGARY!)...

i avoid WS like the plague, but one of my uncles gave me a gift certificate from there 2 weeks ago, i figured i could find something, i ended up spending 27$ and getting the change in cash and going to Russels and TSE...
i heard four outright lies at the gun counter and one interesting fact did you know that a lot of benchrest shooters are trading their bolt guns in for the new marlin 336 because it is more accurate?.....

ranting

Looks like a WS rant, might as well get my two bits in. Ordered a 10/22 through the cowtown store, package arrives open it up and discover the barrel is only half rifled. Call the store and get its not our problem anymore. Had to ship the barrel off to the service centre and wait 4 more weeks to shoot. As always WS you suck!

I was in the new Winnipeg store a couple weeks ago!! List of 5 items I needed, all fairly common...didnt have one of them in stock!
I asked when they would be in stock again, and the guy said it best to order them through Calgary, cuz they didnt no what items would be regularly stocked.
