I just found out that Regina's Wholesale sports is closing on Dec 31 with ongoing sales till then. There was no specific reason given but I suspect sales were too low. One of the problems with the store was poor inventory, its like it was the poor stepsister that was last to get stock. They have some good employees like the lady who ran out of the store to get me when she found an item I was looking for plus gave my dogs a treat to boot. They did have same apathetic employees but I leaned who to go to. This will leave Cabelas/ Bass pro as the only box store with no competition. I'll miss the store although I know many will say good riddance. :(

WSS seems to have poor inventory in most of the stores. They do have some good sale prices from time to time but its not usual for my local store in Calgary to be out of stock of things I am interested in. I have ordered online through them and it worked ok but many times there online inventory is out of stock as well. Some people on CGN have have had luck with their local WSS transferring item between stores but that hasn't worked for me in Calgary. Strange that they don't have a store policy that is consistent across all locations? I think we may see more locations close in the future which is too bad as competition is good in the market place.

Their stock can't be worse than PG. I guarantee I have more Nosler Partitions in my closer than they have on their shelves.

Wholesale sports and cabelas are a joke their pricing is thru the roof....seen a ruger sr 22 rifle there for 849.99 I puked on the gun counter and walked out without cleaning up the mess....never again will I walk into either of these stores.....good riddance

Yup not a tear shed. maybe it will make a small business take off where you can go in and get what you need. not wonder around aimlessly looking for something that isn't there.

Doesn't surprise me the store is always empty of customers and their location on Quance St has to be the worst designed street in Canada almost impossible to get out of the parking lot. Last time I was there the guy at the gun counter told me there's no such thing as a .366 bullet because if they don't stock them they don't exist LOL

Its sad to see any gun shop close their doors. They weren't perfect but it gave you one more place to look.

Exactly. We need more gun shops not less.

I have always stopped at the Regina wss on my way through and pretty much every time bought something there that wasn't in stock in Saskatoon.

The more competion there is the better it is for the consumer. Less competion almost always means higher prices.

Cheapest I've seen the SR-22 is at Al Flaherty's in Toronto @ $779.99

Friend got one on sale there in May 2015 for $650.

Went to WSS over the weekend. The place was getting picked over real good. Stuff was ting off the shelves to the exception of guns and ammo. To small of discount on that yet.

Insufficient authority given to departmental supervisors to order what the public wants.
When looking for something find out if it is available rather that going to find the next sale.
Mind you there are too many customers wanting something ordered but not willing to give a down payment.
Cabela's new store in Abbotsford has lots of fishing gear for Walleyes, muskies and large mouth bass while the "Hindquarters" back east have never heard of west coast fishing . . . what's a barbless hook and why would anyone want one?

maybe you should understand first is it's a Canadian company .... does that matter to your moaning ...

I've always enjoyed shopping at the Nanaimo location, and I've spent thousands of dollars there.

I would hate to see "my" WSS location close.

Me too. Both WSS and Cabela's have improved the mid island retail situation. Mind you, I still miss Ernie Johnson's, Johnson's Hardware from bygone days in Naniamo.

I used to spend money at wss nanaimo, rather than cabelas Nanaimo. But since cabelas was bought by bass pro and since I read that cabelas has not made profit for years, I started to spend money there as well. I want to keep both the store in my city.

A couple great employees, mostly the young guys at the gun counter. A couple helpful young ladies that tried hard. Sadly, a lot of apathetic, unwilling to help, unwilling to try, other staff. They're getting was apathy gets you, it's just too bad that a few nice people had to go down with their ship - the SS Lazy.

It's sad that Cabelas (which, in Regina is actually worse than WSS, believe it or not), is now more or less in charge.

I guess maybe I need to head to Avonlea now.....

There is still TNT , you just have to avoid the one big mouth he has working there and deal directly with Darryl or Alice but I am not sure if Alice is there anymore.
