Who's Doing August? (August Purchases)

Nah, nothing like that. Mine's way more tactical, it's got the green furniture.;)

Is that wood on that G3 Klunk? Nice rifle, BTW.

I have the green stuff as well...The wood makes it non-restricted though:D

Hey, that's handy. Got an extra set kicking around?

Does that mean the wood on my FAL makes it non-res too? It sure is purty.:D

IHC M1 with all IHC parts and SA barrel. I believe it to be an all correct harvester but im no expert..

All of these references to the G3. Isn't this a prohib? If not, why? were they produced in semi only?

Yep, G3 is prohib as it was a selective fire rifle, would fall into 12(2) Full Auto or 12(3) Converted Auto. The HK91 civi semi-auto version is also prohib by name, 12(5) OIC #13.

Wood furniture makes no difference.;)

This is a Plainfield M1 Carbine so technically it's not a milsurp. I received it in late July. When it arrived it had an ugly barrel extension sleeve on it, that I cut off and replaced with a USGI front sight. It seems to shoot decently.

I think this carbine has not been fired very much at all. The chamber was still bright and shiny (it looked new) and the brass was showing impressions of the tool marks inside the chamber.

This is an SAFN that I think I paid too much for. The wood is in pretty rough condition, and when I took it to the range I discovered the gas regulator was seized shut. I took it completely apart yesterday and cleaned it up and got the gas regulator loosened. Lots of crud under the handguards including cosmoline and (possibly egyptian) sand. Tthe brass disk was missing and there was a steel fender washer held in with a brass countersunk Robertson screw.

The bore looks good so I'm going to do what I can to restore the wood and make a replacement brass disk and screw... Does anyone have a photo of a correct screw and disk I can look at?

Man, August is turning out to be a busy month for me...

Here's the latest. A pretty nice M1941 Carcano long rifle with a really nice bore. Plucked in under 15 minutes from our very own EE forum... ;) Added bonus of being a first year of production FAT41. Matching where serialized, of course.

Also neat that it seems to be an early import with original dark stained finish, not like the later imports that were refinished by the Italians in the 60's and 70's to pretty them up for the American market with blonde, heavily sanded wood.

Now to find a proper cleaning rod for it...

I like that Carcano bud.
Oh my goodness
I can't believe I just said something nice about an Italian rifle.
I must have a temperature...

I still want one though.

It was good enough for Oswald Riflechair ;)

Jokes aside, despite their reputation, the Carcano is a beauty. My 6.5 carbine is probably the handieest and most off-hand accurate of my milsurp rifles. And the 6.5 round is a very manageable round and still plenty deadly.

Nice Wood, eh?

I'm picking up a Blonde Swede tomorrow as well...

August has been a busy month... My 40th b-day is coming up next week, so I deserve it.

Come over to the dark side... lol. There's usually not long in between ads on the EE for the odd Carcano. They are not expensive rifles either, even in top condition. You should try one - you might like it :)

I'm not really a carcano collector, but I needed the WW2 version to keep my 1915 Terni M91 Fucile company in the safe... lol. Now just to find a cleaning rod for it (fingers crossed).

Now I need to find a Gras and an 1886/93 Lebel to keep my Berthiers and Adrian helmet company... The adrian is an August purchase too. pics to follow when it arrives. Pattern 26 with Pattern 37 infantry shield. Kinda nifty.
