Who's Doing August? (August Purchases)

Yep, G3 is prohib as it was a selective fire rifle, would fall into 12(2) Full Auto or 12(3) Converted Auto. The HK91 civi semi-auto version is also prohib by name, 12(5) OIC #13.

Wood furniture makes no difference.;)

You would think so buttttttttt, the CFC in it's infinite wisdom has declared some G3s to have been manufactured semi-automatic only. And therefore did not allow some owners/collectors to have 12.3 "priviledges" if their only firearm for the class was the G3 that the owner believed to be a converted auto, and declared by the CFC to be a semi auto variant.

Oh ya, and that little phrase that was in the legislation of "or seeks to acquire" meant absolutely nothing to CFC or RCMP members of the firearms office. They decided to ignore and disregard that little bit. (say it ain't so)

So a G3 could therefore fall into one of the 12.2, 12.3 or 12.5 classes:confused: .

'Tis a bizarre world we live in:( .

But, if it saves just one life.

Nice wood on that K31. I hope it shoots as nicely as it looks.

I did not know that. Even after all these years, I'm still amazed at the depths of stupidity that the Gov't went to.

OK, Here's the Swede I bought.

It's a 1904 Gustavs with a walnut stock.

I also cleaned up the FN49 a bit.

As Klunk would say, bought some more junk for my basement...

Among other things, a nice French M26 Adrian helmet. The poorly underfunded army of the République Française sent the Poilu to war in 1939 wearing a helmet not much changed from the M15 of WW1. The only improvements being a smaller circular "branch" plaque, and an integral formed brim as opposed to the riveted 2-piece brim of the M15. While not the best helmet of its time, it's instantly recognizable as a classic. The Adrian has the dubious honor of being the first helmet ever designed for Trench warfare, the elevated ridge being intended to absorb fragments from overhead artillery bursts.

This particular one is made by Etablissement Carpentier, probably in the mid-30's. The post-war liner, however, has me thinking it's a post-war refurb and repaint. Oh well, it's still nice :) Perhaps I should wear it to the EOHC milshoot in September - lol.

(pictured with an M1907-15 Infantry rifle - the main French service rifle from 1915-1936, still widely in use in 1939, and two 3-round chargers of 8x50R Lebel)

Cool hemet Claven! I myself have been getting more into the accesories to supplement my collection. Always adds to the "aura" of the collection.

BTW, does your wife make you wear the helemt in the bedroom!?;) ;)
