I have a Remington 700 Classic with the semi-gloss stock. It has lots of minor scratches and one good dent in the forend. I am looking to have the entire stock redone by someone who knows what they are doing. Any suggestions about who I should contact? Thanks in advance. Art.

PM WrongWay. He's a woodworker.

Otherwise, while there are a number of gun enthusiasts who do refinish stocks on our own, why not give it a try to refinish your stock yourself?

you know it is very easy to do, it is probably worth it to try it youself. i redid my 700 BDL stock, i just bought one of those birchwood casey kits, all of the instructions are there. very straitforward. you may need to grab some extra sandpaper, and xtra fine steelwool, but other than that, the true oil it comes with looks very nice when redone. if you get someone to do it it will be 100-150$ the kit only costs 20$. make sure you let each coat dry properly, and put 3-4 coats on it.= brand new stock!

If You feel reluctant to have a go at it yourself, there is a fellow here in my town who is truly a skilled woodworker. I have had him redo several, with never a complaint. The cost is $200.00, but worth every cent, IMHO. The only problem is, he's a snowbird, and is in Texas till April. If you want more info, PM me. Regards, Eagleye.
