Who's got a Sterling R9 and mags in stock?

What does that have to do with anything? It not having an FRT is irrelevant to it being prohibited eventually. If it had an NR classification they could simply change the FRT to prohibited just as easily. The crypto was built specifically to be compliant. What SHOULD blow you away is the realisation that if they'll ban a gun that was MADE to comply with their bull#### new law, then they'll ban ANY gun regardless of it having an FRT number or not, for ANY reason they want, at ANY time they want. NO gun is safe from being banned.

The Crypto was built to be complaint with c21.

But you're stupid if you think it wasn't gonna be called an AR variant, making the whole c21 compliance thing irrelevant.

Obviously they can change an FRT, but there is a difference between changing an FRT and simply not having one issued yet. There is a CHANCE they can change an FRT, it's guaranteed they will eventually issue one though.

I'm not in the slightest bit surprised this gun was banned, because I had the realization that they'll ban whatever they want years ago. Not really sure what's taking you so long to figure that out...

Of course they were going to call it a variant. The lab seems to love making #### up and calling things a variant of other things. And since 2016, the CHANCE that they'll change an FRT is very high. I would in fact wager that is inevitable that every gun's FRT will be changed in the near future.
As to your last snide sentence, the only thing that I haven't figured out yet is why you think there's a difference between having and not having an FRT, and it's bearing on being banned. There is no difference between changing and issuing an FRT. None. Zero. In both cases the lab is going to examine the gun. I've known ever since the turd was elected in 2015 that this would be the road the liberals went down.

Got any examples of guns that had their FRT changed in recent times? Not the ones that were changed shortly after the May 2020 OiC, but more recently than that?

I've asked this before and nobody was able to give me a concrete example. That is why I think having an NR FRT and not having an FRT at all is different. Yes, an FRT can be changed, but IMO the risk is much higher for a gun with no FRT at all. From a black-and-white perspective, yeah, any gun can be banned. But we don't live in a black and white world, there's shades of grey in between, and some guns are clearly more likely to be banned than others.

You've known since 2015, and yet a decade later you still think the actions of the Liberal party should "blow me away"? That doesn't make much sense to me, but you do you.

I agree with this, I heard companies that submit FRT documentation also include a documentation package explaining the operation and classifation as to why the gun being reviewd is not a variant of any other firearm. some examples of this come from henry with the homesteader and I belive SBI did the same with a gun.

If you leave it up to the RCMP lab they will just call it a variant based of observations and other guns that look similar... not to mention sterling arms called it a scaled down R18...

Wait, she actually thought Trudeau wouldn't want to ban firearms?

Yeah I think its cause at the time the CCFR was quite non-partisan and they granted her an interview or access, and Justin did say "we don't want to come for your guns". It was a "mid term report" halfway through his first administration.

And yup, it took a very aggressive "what proof do you have that he wants to ban guns?" turn.

Um....he's the Liberal party leader?

The only example in recent times would be the reclassification of the cz 858 series from NR to prohibited then back to NR ordered by Stephen Blaney. Before that in the 90s was the AR15s back and forth from restricted to non restricted.
Unfortunately unless you're a cop or a firearms verifier nobody has real time access to the FRT table, so we don't hear about changes unless they announce them.

Now that you mention it, that would be an interesting topic to bring up with an RCMP lab tech....

There was also the reversal of the mka 1919 Turkish shotgun and a couple other Turkish models. They were classed initially as restricted in 2013, reclassified to NR in 2016. But it's very rare.

So the best example outside of things directly relating to the May 2020 OIC is from the Harper days?

That feels like pretty damn good evidence that changing an FRT after the fact is NOT a normal or frequent thing?

Side question, did BCL sell the Siberian before it got an FRT? I can't remember.

I did add the reversal of the mka 1919 after you quoted me, but You are correct that changing an FRT other than going straight to prohibited is very rare, and most of the time has been done solely to political pressure. But that is not the same as saying it's a harder regulatory process than simply classifying it initially as prohibited. Guns rarely get changed less stringently mainly due to antigun politics.

In regards to the Siberian, I think they sold it prior to receiving an FRT, but I'm not certain. I'd have to do some digging.

I don't think I ever claimed it was?

That's what I understood your argument to say. Maybe we're misunderstanding one another.

My argument is about likelihood. It has nothing to do with what needs to be done behind the scenes to get it done.
