Who's Hunting Turkey this Spring?

I will definitely be out for wild turkey this Spring. I just checked 3 of the 5 properties I have permission to hunt on, & I found excellent turkey sign. I think this will be an banner turkey year. Has anyone bought an Ontario turkey tag yet?

cant wait!! april 15th,as long as the snow melts enough.3rd season for me,1 with the 12 gauge and 2 with my 17hmr.this year its my kids turn so i hope we get lucky again.good luck everyboby!!!

I'm going to take a pass this season. For some reason, I don't have that turkey hunting 'itch.' Maybe it's because last season I got two tags, and was overdosed with turkey. Turkey meat just doesn't hold that high an appeal to me. I'll eat it, but I don't have the same desire for it as I do for venison, duck, moose, etc.
Saying this, I'll probably wake up opening day and cry as I don't have a tag.

No tag required in B.C. as it is considered an upland bird. Any one in the Okanagan want to have a CGN turkey hunt?
P.S. As a side note, TOM is quite tasty indeed!

Wow, rifle on a turkey would mean many more accidents in Ontario. As it is, it's very scary being out there. Private land doesn't even protect you as there are many morons trespassing. I still go out and usually get my birds, each year though more and more hunters out there and it only takes a few Ontario morons to ruin it for everyone. Kind of reminds me why I stopped fishing the Lake O tribs.

Gobble Gobble, Bang Bang. Can't wait to try out my new 870 Supermag with a turkey choke!

Anyone know what the best 12g ammo is for Turkeys?

The one that patterns the best from YOUR gun. Try a bunch of different ones, even better if you can split a few different brands with your buddies and see which one(s) pattern best at the ranges you plan to hunt.

Wow, for some reason I always thought it was illegal to hunt turkey with a rimfire but I just went through the regs and found nothing. I might even pack a 22 now.

There was 9 turkeys in my moms driveway yesterday when I took the kids down to visit her, it's looking good so far. All hens but a jake or Tom will show up to try for some lovin I'm sure.

Good answer. Also, buy some paper targets with a turkey. Shoot it at 25-30 yards.
I use 3" Rem #4, but also have a box of "duplex" (mix of #4 and #6 pellets), and a standard rem turkey choke. The #4 worked well last year, one shot, one kill.

Good call. I will definitely try different chokes with various ammo and see which patterns best at 30-40 yeard shots.

Where would one obtain the turkey targets? I have yet to see those in any of the stores I've been to. Any online sources?
