Hi all.
I'm specifically looking for the new
.45ACP and
9mm Bullet Tubes that can attach directly onto Hornady's existing Bullet Feeder Dies. I'd rather this type of setup instead of buying the whole Bullet Feeder assembly.
So far, I have not been able to find anyone in Canada who stocks the new 2015 product line.
Thanks in advance.
Found this on the AR15 forum and made up a half-dozen tubes for loading 9mm. Works perfectly so far.
How to make your own poor man's bullet feeder for any progressive press:
What you will need:
1x Hornady bullet feeder die (9mm in this example) $23.USD
7/16" rigid plastic tube (available from your local aquarium store in 36" lengths) - $4.CDN/ea
2x 5/8" or slightly larger hitch pins - 50cents/ea
On one end of the plastic tube, put about 1 1/2 wraps of electrical tape around it. Enough that the tube sits snugly into the bullet feeder die.
Drill a small hole just above the electrical tape and insert a hitch pin.
Drill another hole on the opposide end for another hitch pin.
Fill the tube with bullets with the base of the bullet towards the taped end. You should be able to fit aprox 60+ 9mm RN bullets per tube compared to 40ish in Hornady's.
Insert the taped end of the tube into your bullet feeding die and make sure it is in snugly.
Pull hitch pin out. Bullets should fall to the bottome of the bullet feeder die.
Start loading ammo.
With the 36" length of tubing, you will need to support it at the top or buy a tube one size up and use it as a sheath to support the 7/16" tube.
I haven't found the proper sized tube for 45 cal and I might end up buying the Hornady 45cal tubes.
