Hypothetically, based on some experience, is there a smith that you would recommend sending a Ruger Redhawk to to shorten the barrel to 106 mm? What price would be acceptable or the range for such work with remounting of a front sight? I would assume that the barrel is simply cut off and the crown redone with a bore-pilot based cutter? I have heard that taking the barrel off to do the job can be a real pain in the butt. Thanks for your input, Peter.

This used to be a 10 1/2" silhouette model :)
On a Redhawk, the barrel's a ##### to get out, so it's a little tougher, but doable. I'm doing some now with a stainless upper and lower ramp. Results shortly on a .454 Casull... Cost about $300 total with a new front sight base that takes Ruger inserts. The ramps will make the SRH look more in proportion with the stubby barrel :)

Here's a Super Redhawk at 5.5" without the ramps...

hello
I sent to a MP for information.. I desire the same thing for my super redhawk

if this keeps up, gunnar's going to have a bunch of 5 inch barrel stubs he's going to have to do something with- maybe a bunch of 4.5 redhawks?

My all time favorite revolver is a Gunnar @ Armco shortened to 4.25" Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 Casull... :D

Check out his site rib that he installed...

If you are interested in a gun like this get Gunnar to also install a spring kit and a .332" fiber optic sight... :)
