.358 Norma? Good cartridge,but it's never been a cartridge that really piqued my interest, for whatever reason.

I was actually going to have a .375 Weatherby built, even had a Mdl 70 donor action, then the NEW KING came along, and it was just what I wanted...After I put a Mcmillan on it, it's pretty close to perfect for that type of rifle...I wouldn't run from a .375 Ruger built on a Mdl 70 action either, but the Ruger is a pleasure to shoot, accurate and feels pretty great, all in close to stock form. Needed Guntech to smoothe the trigger and bed the stock, and a little polishing of the bolt in the action, but I did that with some stroking with JB paste and it was good to go.;)
 
All funnin aside, I have no doubt it's a wonderful rifle. I have no experience with the big Rugers.

I am sure that no animal could ever tell the difference. And if I was doing it over today (that 358 is 6 or 7 years old now) I might well go with a 375 of some sort.

Nice part abotu it is that it is a BIG RUGER in a little package;)

I agree that most animals won't notice a difference. That goes for lots of stuff, though.;)
 
Nice pictures Gatehouse, is that Pemberton country or out towards Carpenter Lake. Ive hunted near Gold Bridge area, I would like to drive from Pemberton through to Gold Bridge on the gravel rd one of these days. It reminds me of the island, steep and green. The island is much wetter. Its tough for us islanders,if we hunt muleys we have to travel so far and those ferries are exspensive. Oh well, thats what you get for living on the island.

Only in my dreams could achieve that level of functional beauty. I probably don't have enough years of gun building left to reach the level of skill required to duplicate that sweetheart! I can only imagine how such a carefully crafted rifle must handle. It is almost certain I will never match it and in fact will not even try. No reason to set myself up for disappointment!
