Who's Using the M&P Pro (5") in IPSC Production?

Looking to pick one of these up, and looking for feedback on it in the particular role. Specifically the trigger pull. They say the trigger is between 4-5.5lbs. Is it adjustable? My concern is it will be below the 5lb production limit. Also, how does it compare to a glock trigger?
 
I have the 5" Pro Series. The trigger is gritty and non adjustable. Mine has zero audible and zero tactile reset. Don't know what the exact trigger pull is, don't have a trigger pull gauge. Doesn't even come close to a Glock trigger. IMO.

Good to know. Im shooting a glock now in production, but liked the idea of a longer slide/sight radius, FO front sight, and better ergonomics.

In your opinion, is it a better gun (trigger aside)?
 
I have both. Ergonomics on the M&P is way better. The palmswells on the M&P are well thought of. The Glock backstraps are pretty Mickey Mouse and an afterthought and stole the idea from S&W. Glocks are easier to take apart and parts are easy to find and cheap. Also more aftermarket parts available for it. I'd lean towards the M&P. The trigger can be fixed with an Apex trigger and RAM.

There is nothing wrong with the PRO. If it were me though U would install a heavier trigger return spring in the gun to ensure the gun's trigger pull is and remains over 5#'s. As far as the reset goes I have never heard my guns reset or indeed felt it when shooting a stage. Some can or claim to be able to all I am saying is I can't. I am talking about CZ's, Tanfoglios, Ruger;s etc. In front of the TV set yes and the Glock does have a very audible "click" as the gun resets the sear. In competition I would never notice it. I can feel my CZ reset while dry firing at home but at the range, while doing double taps...nope.

Neither the Glock nor the M&P gives or takes much from each other. The CZ Shadow dominates IPSC Production for a reason but the gun is not for everyone. The difference between your Glock 17 (?) and the PRO though for sight radius is not going to make any difference in your scoring. I might make the change for a few reason but that would not be one of them. Vogel won the IPSC Production title in Greece a couple of years ago with a Glock 17. Might be the archer not the arrow.

Wouldn't that pull you out of production division though?

Bith can come apart the same way. The M&P offers a second option. The PRO, other than the trigger return spring is ready to go. The Glock 17 really needs new sights. Glock mags are Bobcheaper than M&P mags are better designed in my opinion.

The PRO's trigger often will fall below 5#'s. The cure is a heavier trigger spring to keep it above 5#'s for IPSC. For USPSA Production or IDPA it matters not. For IPSC the only real change you can make are the sights and springs both of which are available in equal amounts for both pistols. Neither pistol would make my eyes water for IPSC Production when you consider other options like the CZ/Tanfoglio products but both the Glock and M&P are less expensive and likely would serve most shooters. You just have to watch the trigger weight.

IMHO there is nothing to choose between the two pistols. For the new purchasor it really just falls to which gun you prefer. If you prefer striker fired guns for IDPA/USPSA it is either the Glock 34 or M&P PRO for IPSC it is the Glock 17 or the M&P PRO.
