Go and pick up the 210 or 220 bolt action slug gun. My 210 is deadly accurate out to 150yds and they are only a couple hundred bucks more than a slug barrel.
I use brenneke 3" gold magnums for rifled barrels only. I use rio star 2 3/4" slugs they go for rifled or smoothbore and are super accurate and cheap. It prints hornady sst slugs very tightly but they group 8" high at 50 yards and I just never bothered to change my sights to accommodate them. I haven't found a slug that will group outside 2" at 50yards. Winchester canadian tire cheap groups are bout the worst with a 2" group. Rio slugs I can make a 5 shot 1 hole group all day at 50 yards
Out of my Ithaca Deerslayer smoothbore, the Rottweil Brenneke Classic 12 gauge 2 3/4 inch, 1 1/8 oz slug easily cloverleafed at 50 yards for me on a regular basis. Using factory irons.
Remington 870 with a 20" rifled barrel and rifle sights. I have a few and they shoot great and always work. For around $360.00 new they are a damn good gun for the sticker price. I'm was more surprised of their accuracy than anything.
For a low cost slug gun, the H&R Ultra Slug Hunter (heavy barreled) single shot is an excellent deer gun. I have one on 20ga. However, its heavy around 9lbs with optics mounted.
