Why a .308 AR?

Why does an AR in .308 keep calling to me? I have handguns and a .223 AR already (along with a bunch of non-restricteds), so I am not against a range-only firearm, but why a .308? My range only has a 100yd rifle range, .308 isn't much use for CQB type practice and I can't hunt with the thing.
But it still calls to me.ovrec

Am I going to have to buy one just to make the voices stop?

Yes...you will buy one...same reason I ordered an Armalite .308 lower to start a build up on that platform. It's a sickness...first step is admitting it...then buying more :D

It was my first AR and now I have parts and ordered parts to complete a second.
 
Im having this problem right now as well! I have 2 ARs in .223 and am considering selling one to get a .308 AR. On that note I also have 2 M14s but thats not stopping me from wanting a shorty!!Im gonna find myself on an episode of "Intervention" soon!! HaHa!
 
When you pick up that AR .308 you will start to realize 'Why'?

When you feel the 'Thump - Thump - Thump....' of the .308 against your shoulder you will Know 'Why!'
 
Oh, It's just to bad that we can't use it for hunting in canada...now that really would be fun!
 
That is because when the PC's reclass the AR's as NR, you can hunt with a very versitile, modern, modular semi auto rifle that is quick handling, egronomic and delivers pinpoint accuracy from a wide range of shooting postions and can be brought to bear in alot less time than a conventional hunting rifle.

hehehe, that ought to get things going....... Love the idea of hunting with it though.
 
I have three AR-15's in .223 but I still enjoy shooting the AR-10 the most. Perhaps it reminds me of my service days when 7.62 MATO was the standard. Maybe the fact that a .308 can do everything a .223 can and then some. You have to shoot one to realize how different it feels compared to it's little brother. In fact, I spent more on modifying my AR-10 than my AR-15's combined.
 
I have about a dozen 5.56 AR's, a 9mm AR, a 7.62x39 AR and a recently acquired 6.8 AR, and a POF 308. However I am getting good vibes from an LMT MWS and the PWS 308! It never ends!

Personally I chose LMT MWS with SS barrel. It should be here tomorrow. The HK felt a bit too bulky and the grip was too verticle. The price too high and I prefer DI over piston for the AR design. The KAC is just too expensive. Maybe someday but I can't justify the cost over the LMT right now.

The 308 AR. My favourite. The rifle pulse is cool, you don't get womped yet you know you're firing a heavier caliber. The accuracy is up to high end tactical bolt guns accuracy and 308 isn't as badly affected by the wind. All the benefits of the AR design are magnified with the 308. They are simply my favourite rifles to shoot.

Yes they are addictive, perhaps even more so than the AR15. While less common anyone who owns one generally makes sure they always continue to own at least one. The AR10 has a smaller but extremely loyal following. The tend to be coveted additions to any collection.

At first i agreed with you about the grip, but as i got used to it, i began to really like it.That being said, i have the other HK grip as well..

I'd go for an FNAR, I know its not an AR-10 but is non-restricted. That being said I want and AR-10 so badly but I really wish they were non-restricted.
