Why a .308 AR?

At first i agreed with you about the grip, but as i got used to it, i began to really like it.That being said, i have the other HK grip as well..

One other thing to keep in mind. The HK we can buy isn't the same as the actual military one. It's a consumer product line version. The Armalites that myself and Fireball have are the actual versions being used by our troops. The LMT is also the actual version being used by the British and now Newzealand. LMT specifically mentions they only make one rifle and the consumer gets the same rifle. With the 16" SS barrel you have the sane rifle. Not a consumer grade product. Now don't get me wrong the HK is still cool but they're product differentation policy tends to piss me off.

Either way you'll be happy. Heck my lowest grade 308 AR is a DPMS LR308 and it puts a big smile in my face never mind a high end product. Right now with the prices of the LMT it was
a very easy decision. In fact I wasn't even looking for another 308 AR but couldn't walk away due to the current price.

Ultimately I'd love to own one of each or more!! Maybe some day. An HK and KAC would be nice too.

I would have to agree with Epoxy7, the LMT is a smokin deal....
As for justification of such a purchase, I think after you fire a couple rounds down range you will understand. IMHO I think it's the best all around calibre in the AR platform, and most of the guys I served with would agree. ( I just wish it was less expensive to feed them)

Who says you can't CQB with a .308win?

My range. The pistol area is not templated for anything beyond .223 or 7.62x39 and the rifle area doesn't work for the multi-direction move and fire courses I like about CQB.

Oh, It's just to bad that we can't use it for hunting in canada...now that really would be fun!

That is because when the PC's reclass the AR's as NR, you can hunt with a very versitile, modern, modular semi auto rifle that is quick handling, egronomic and delivers pinpoint accuracy from a wide range of shooting postions and can be brought to bear in alot less time than a conventional hunting rifle.

hehehe, that ought to get things going....... Love the idea of hunting with it though.

If I could hunt with an AR I would have already sold a kidney to have one in .308.

I can hear the dark side calling.

MR308 is apparently more accurate than most 417 versions and it loses nothing, you don't need the full auto capability anyways..

This thread got me all tingly and fuzzy inside, so much so that I had to go and buy an LMT 308 MWS.. I should see it next week sometime... Luckily I sold one of my RFB's to finance the purchase, and I still have money left over.

You realize it's an addiction right? CGN is like having an AA meeting in a liquor store.

We had some 417's at work. Couldn't hold a candle as far as accuracy to the SR-25 and some other stuff our guys built.

They're ok to shoot, but nothing special.

It's like anything else that isn't commonly available. The anticipation and desire far outweighs the actual experience.
