Just wondering all your opinions of why you pic .40 cal over .45 acp or vice versa. They seem so close to me. Reason I'm asking is I'm looking at Glocks and I notice that .40 cal seems to be selling more on the EE

Price of .40 ammo is a lot cheaper and the mags all hold 10 rounds while .45 the norm is either 7 or 8 rounds.
.40 or .45ACP or what....
Admitedly I like 'em all.
Single stack 1911 style .45 ACP for sure but also have 9mm's, a .40 and 10mm's off that platform, too.
Double stack 9mm my preference is to the BHP MkIII these days. Also have one in .40
As for the .40 itself I also have a G22 and a S&W 4006.
This after ~ 30 years of owning/shooting various handguns.

So would you saw there is a big difference between .45 and .40 as far as proformance? Say stopping power and when shooting range contests like bowling pins
Odds are you'll get them both.
I like my .40 (Glock22) because ammo/components are relatively plentiful due to so much LE use and I can load it down to 9mm power levels whenever I want. The fact that I got a LE turn refurb for cheap helped too.
That being said, I love my .45 (H&K USP). It just feels nice to shoot compared to the snappy .40 and punches big holes. But it is pricier.
In the end it's essentially a toss up.

I find I can shoot the .40 and .45 equally as well for accuracy. Stopping power does not concern me as I only punch paper. I don't compete with them so I have no knowledge as to whether one would be better at knocking down bowling pins.... But 180 gr bullet at 900 fps vs 200 gr bullet at 850 fps I imagine they'd perform similarly in that situation.

I'll go for 45ACP all the time... diff in ammo price 40 < 45 not being an issue

If you have 10mil 1911's then you might do as I did and buy an Oly NM 40 cal barrel,you just change out the barrel and you have a 40S&W .
I have lots of early high powered 200 grn 10 mil,and lots of 180 grn 40S&W .
And if either supply drains off I am ready to go(although all that ammo and guns and barrels just sets in the safe) cause I keep a Mod 97 pump and a Colt Goverment Mod 80 at hand!
You just never know when it might take some OO buck and .45acp to get you to your R 6551!
