Way back when, I shot into 'A' class with a pair of 9mm Brownings. I took a lot flak from the .45 ACP/Jeff Cooper aficionados. For me, it was the logical choice after 12 years in the miitary.
Then I got a deal on a Gold Cup .45 that I couldn't refuse and shot my way back into 'A' after a brief learning curve. It was easier with the .45.
Last April my wife took her Black Badge course with a Ruger SR9. After that, she tried one of my 1911's. I created a monster! She now owns THREE 1911's and a GSG 1911 .22. Her SR9 and six mags (and remaining factory ammo) are now for sale.
Even with her small hands, she finds the 1911 easier to handle and shoots the 1911 both better and faster than she did the 9mm. It's kept me busy tricking them out with the bells, gongs and whistles (ambi-safeties, right side mag releases for a lefty), but it's worth it to have a gun nut wife.
