Why all the hate with 6.5 Creedmoor

Agreed, which is in no way unique to the 6.5 lineup making all the negativity even more bizarre.
 
A few years after the explosion of the 6.5 craze, the precision rifle section of the equipment exchange as been mostly 308s. Now that SAAMI has recognized the 7mmPRC and it starts getting produced the exchange will be loaded up with Creedmoor rifles, just wait. The Creedmoor fan boys will jump ship soon enough. There isn't a top rated F-class shooter I know of who isn't shooting a .284 rifle for a reason. The bulk of top competitors don't use 6.5s, the 7mm/.284 bullets are superior ballistically and proven for hunting all north american game species. That's going to be a far superior "do all" chambering to the Creedmoor.

I don't hate the Creedmoor I just don't understand people that swear by it for hunting big game like moose and elk. It's a fine target chambering that is not in question, it was designed for target shooting but others have done it just as well in the past.
 
I ask the question because I recently got a Springfield waypoint in 6.5 Creedmoor. Maybe I should have gotten It in p.5 prc but oh well. Looking forward to taking it out once I get a scope.
 
A lot of it is the companies are trying to create a new market for new money ! They sell guns hence they have all the magazines saying great things ! It’s all about putting another gun in your cabinet. Cheers peoples

25/06 has plenty of energy and velocity with 120's for elk out to quite a distance, as good as the puny 6.5CM, we are talking .257 vs .264 diameter bullets here, 7 thou is not a big difference.
I'd still prefer 30cal or larger myself.
 
I have a few friends who jumped in on the craze. People agree that theres almost no difference between 6.5 creedmoor and 308 under 500 meters and that was good enough for me to get a 308.

I shot 47/50 at 1000yds. 139 L Scenars Lap brass H4350
 
Its original design premise; long range high bc competition, with low recoil for high volume shooting competition. At 1000yds that projectile is not knocking down steel or against game animals those bullets are not going to penetrate, expand, or impart shock energy. Paper targets are dead though, too much fiber in soup for my liking.
 
I don’t dislike the cartridge, it’s almost as good as my .260 , and it performs like a 6.5x55. There’s no flys on any cartridge in that realm.
I have a profound dislike for the asinine and totally moronic marketing hype, and if that’s not bad enough, the fan boys, girls and it’s, that expound it’s superiority over other cartridges that are kissing cousins to it, is where my displeasure commences.

One thing I’ve noticed is a a lot of the negativity come from those that come off sounding a bit more like hunters with guns rather than shooters that hunt. It’s only the hunting usage of it that really ever gets #### on. I totally see where a guys coming from when they say it won’t kill x animal any differently than x cartridge, but it never really was intended for that. Post 22 sums it up well. You can also take a look on any 375ruger thread archived here, same guys, same attitude. A lot of the buy a x from tradex guys. Bit of a mob mentality around here.

Pure marketing. Sure, mabey some advantages, but MOST people that shoot them dont really know those advantages. 6.5x55 sweed for me. Thats if I had to pick!
