Spoke with a CGN sponsoring dealer yesterday, he told me a Kimber order placed in Sept of 2008 arrived in October of 2009. I believe I bought his last one.

His most recent order is January 2009, and they are still awaiting delivery.

As far as I know, Kimbers have always been rarer than hen's teeth in Canada. If you look at our EE forum, Kimbers always go faster than other brands.

Is this a Kimber specific phenomenon, or is this the situation for all handguns in Canada?

Because everyone who's into 1911's eventually wants a Kimber.

+1. I wanted a Kimber but all I could find was my new Nighthawk. Oh well.

I wondered about this too awhile back.....I think Kimber fits a very popular spot in the high-end-production market for 1911's especially in the US, and sales are very good this last couple years. Just makes deliveries to Canada a little spotty. Wholesale here in Calgary has a couple, and P&D seems to have nice selection a lot of the times I have been in the shop.

They are worth the hassle...

When I got my RPAL in March I tried to find a new Kimber. YEAH RIGHT...P&D, Epps, everyone, was telling me that they could order one but no garantee of when it would come in. Everywhere I called was the same "Hurry up and wait"!!! I finally found a new Custom Target II and even though it wasnt what I wanted, (I really wanted a warroir or a Desert Warrior) I took it anyway. I used it all summer and it was awesome. Accurate, reliable and a blast to shoot. This fall, I was told to contact Roger at Shooters choice in Calgary about a warrior so I did. We spoke on Friday and he had one for me on Tuesday.... Awesome service, and he was cheaper than any of the other dealers I spoke to about a warrior. Apparently, there is a new Canadian distributor for Kimber and the supply problem should get better in the months to come. He has other Kimbers on his website right now so look him up if you want one.

My Desert Warrior has the best trigger I have ever felt on a pistol, it even puts my other Kimber to shame. The fit and finish is awesome and the slide feels like its on ball bearings... I cant wait to try it out.

They are worth the wait, cost, hassle, whatever it takes to get one and when you finally have one in your hands, you know you have something special.

Have a great day.

Gord.

Reliable in Vancouver has had a bunch for a while. I like my Kimbers a lot but I wish they made the MSH out of metal instead of resin. They're customer service has gotten better.

There are reasons why Kimber was such a pain in the ass to deal with...

From what I understand, originally, you had to place a minimum order of ###X amount of dollars before they would even consider shipping to you..

Then, from what I was told, they now want the money upfront before any order is placed. Essentially you are financing your order...

But I guess with Korth handling it, we will have a more steady supply into the country which is a good thing...

This is just what Ive heard through the grapevine, take it for what its worth...

:agree:

I'm another one that agrees 100% that they are well worth the wait!!!

I prefer my Kimber over all other 1911's that I own/have owned.

My only tiny gripe about the Kimbers is that they only come with 1 mag. I know it sounds petty but for the price of them I think they could throw an extra mag in as most other pistol manufacturers do.

The Desert Warrior is Awesome! Very similar to the SAI MC-OPERATOR
A lot of guys are switching to Kimbers........

As mentioned earlier, P&D has a great selection in right now. I was in drooling over a SIS RL just the other day. And with Korth set up as the new distributor, there is no down side. I have yet to hear a complaint in how they handle Leupold distribution or warranty work.

Anyone nostalgic for the days when Kimber was just starting out and they offered a great 1911 at a reasonable price? Prices for Kimber's these days are getting plain insane for a production 1911.

Not Really......

Shooters Choice, Calgary AB.... Kimber Custom II BNIB $975.00.... SS version$1199.00

Compare that to the cost of a Springfield or a SIG 1911 and tell me how reasonable it is. Kimber's entire Custom II line, from the entry level to the Warriors is priced way better than comparable pistols from other manufacturers..... Dont get me wrong on this they have the high end pistols as well, but no higher than the Wilson Combat's and the Nighthawks of the world.... The entry to mid level guns are the best bang for the buck in my opinion.

I am too poor for Kimber right now but damn they are nice. I love my Norinco Police though. Will have to do for now.
