So I am looking for new sights and looking around, the recommended ones are all about $150 or more. Why are two little pieces of plastic so costly? Is it even worth $200 to upgrade stock sights if you're never shooting in the dark?

My trijicon sights were in that neighborhood but they are top notch. Super small precision made parts including tritium. If you are paying that much for plastic you are shopping in the wrong places.

The parts might not be plastic but I mean even if it was titanium, it's not that expensive for those small pieces is it?

But what do you get for $200? What is worth $200? Somebody is walking away with $170 profit on every single sight. I just don't get it. If it was made from wood or plastic or paper, The sight doesn't move so I just don't see why they are so costly.

Supply vs demand. Don't buy them if you don't feel like paying for them.

Or better yet, make your own.

You can get a decent sight for much less than $200. For range use fiber optic front and black rear will be better than nightlights.

it's a small market. No different than bike parts. Why does a muffler for a car cost 200 or less but a bike muffler costs 500? why does a magazine for a rifle cost 50 dollars, why does etc etc. small market bigger ability to make a profit on singular items.

Insert all gun parts here..175$ for a safety switch..etc. Think you get a whole gun for 800$ but the safety is worth 25% of that, the hammer 15% of that, etc.

Synergy. Makes the gun look like a great deal!

I feel your pain but still bought the safety lol.

Yeah it's crazy. Thinking about it, stuff for firearms are often overpriced. I just don't know how they come up with a price tag that they do. It's frustrating.

I swear I could make sights with a 3d printer for $5 at my local library. No they won't be made out of titanium or gold but it's not far out there. The pieces are so small. I guess /rant over

So for nightsights there are Licenses needed for handling tritium since it is a radioactive substance that aren't cheap to have plus proper facilities to store it and work with it also not cheap. Otherwise its very precise machining on small pieces a couple thousands of an inch variance on the height of a front sight can cause 2 exact same model front sights have POI's that vary greatly at 25 yards.

I didn't realize Tritium was a radioactive substance so yeah I can see a higher price for those. Like I said my rant is over so I will just smile and nod :)
