Why Bother Hunting.................

^^^LOL!!! I could probably eat that one in five sittings.^^^ I found this one on the rifle range ( 5 feet behind my shooting bench) this past summer along with rabbits, deer and antelope.

Over the past 15 years, I have seen Black Bears [3], Deer [7], Moose [2], plus plenty of grouse on our range here in PG.

We used to have a resident marmot in one of the side berms, but some a** shot it several years ago.

When I lived in Victoria, I frequently saw Blacktails on the Malahat range there.

It seems that gunfire does not bother them much.

Regards, Dave.

That happens at our range too. We have a deer that will regularly walk out onto the range while everyone is shooting and we'll have to cease fire and let it graze and wander across.

Alberta has a provincial law that does not allow hunting with "revolvers and pistols".(with some exceptions)

If not for that I figured I could shoot a deer at the gun range with a handgun, where I am allowed to take and shoot my handguns.

Then I see it seems the gun range rules may prohibit shooting a deer on the range.

We get deer on our range all the time. They don't seem to be bothered by the rifle report until you hit the gongs. That seems to get them moving. They do interrupt the shooting from time to time...

Hey track d'you eat that range varmint.............they're actually pretty good eating, have had them as an appetizer several times down in Texas.
Rattlesnakes are protected in Alberta. I always find rattlers interesting when I come across them, their so cute. The guy shooting beside me at the range pointed behind me and mentioned snake. Looked and five feet behind me was this female rattler........ah photo op time. Yes I hear that they taste good.

I almost filled my turkey tag at the range. The darn thing was trying to get into the clubhouse and I was only 10 yards behind it. Was amazed I was walking in full sight behind it and it was still there so figured it wasn't gonna last long anyway so let it go.

I had a baby fox cross the range in front of me while I was shooting my 10/22. Then it want to come up and see me when I went to scare it away. The guys on the pistol range next door were blazing away and it didn't seem scared at all. Cute little guy. I didn't know we had many foxes in the area.

I've never seen a deer on our rifle range, but I've certainly seen the tracks. Lots of little fuzzy things though. Also had a snapping turtle once. I'm not sure if the gun shots bothered him though, because well...it was a turtle.

Common sight at our range ... no one was around and a nice buck walked out and started eating right beside the 200 target my buddy was shooting during hunting season ... Im sure you can guess how that turned out
