Why cant I find 178gn Amax?!

Hi Gentlemen,

I've been shooting with a very nice load with 178gn Amax over 43.5gn H Varget. I was hitting 3 and 5 inch gong at 600m. I started development on the 155gn Amax version but have been told that these can be a little problematic in higher wind situation vs the 178. I purchased 500 rounds of each an am now trying to stock up again. I can find 155gn and 168gn Amax readily at, Cabelas site sponsor ect... but I can not locate 178gn Amax anywhere!

So, my question is, should I move to the 168gn Amax projectile and does it have the same wind troubles of the 155?

Yep, considered an ELDM now. Should be similar in shape to the Amax. I think they just changed the tip and increased the price :)

The BTHP option is less money if that matters.

Of course, Sierra makes a 175gr TMK that should be quite slippery.
