Why can't I find a new Colt SAA?

Colt SAA Revolvers are a Colt Custom Shop item
Many years ago I order two pair 's of 45LC's
It took year's to get them
I got Colt SAA in 357 mag from a Dist. because no one wanted it in the 1970's
They always have been an expensive item, so you pretty well have to order the model you want

I did not know that thanks for the info. It’s the one thing I have wanted since I got into the hobby.

I see a used one in the EE at this time.

This is my antique Colt. (not for sale)

Just keep you eye on the EE, there is always one that show up. I bought mine on the EE unfired NIB at a fair price. Not for sale either.

This thread prompted me to the EE for a look as I've always liked the SA Colt. Even though it would mean a whole new caliber to stock (.45 Colt) I thought I'd see what was to offer...did that ever lead to a mistake.

Guy has a Ruger Blackhawk, 5.5 inch barrel. He says he's shot it little, but it is used. He's been asking for $675.00 +shipping. I offer him what I believe to be a fair starting point ($450.00 + shipping) assuming after a haggle we'd end up in the neighbourhood of $500.00/ $550.00?

The guy acts like I said something about his mother, carries on and on about low ballers...blah, blah, blah...then says he'll split shipping but is firm on his price (there is no indication he's firm ahead of his reply.)

I thank him, politely tell him I'll pass...(he can keep bumping the thing for all I care?)

Tell me, is this what I'm to expect from the EE here?

That can happen, but not normally. I wouldn't let that get to you. Some guys are not in need of the money and some are not willing to take a loss. Those guys will not move on their price. That is the exception though.

You also have to consider what is out there
Ruger made some very nice SAA type revolvers
Their original flutted cylinder 44 Rem Mag SAA model was a work of art, then they went to the solid cylinder

Forget about the rugers, they’re not the same gun at all.

2013 I could’ve had a BNIB Colt SAA 5 1/2 barrel, chambered in 45 Colt.
Wolverine had it stock for $1399, if memory serves me correct.

That was to expensive for me back then so I opted for the $650 Uberti El Patron.

I’d recommend a $450 Pietta for a starter, you can bang away, do a fan or two, lol.
See if ya like it.
But it’ll never scratch the real itch… lol

Now a new one goes for around $3000 when they pop up.

I did see one on the EE recently with a 7 1/2 barrel.

I see the prices on these have gone up a bit. I'm not sure I'd pay that much for one unless it came with antique status and was in really nice condition. I own a Colt SAA 7.5" 45LC and to be honest with you my Uberti El Patron shoots better! However, the Gentleman above mentioned "scratching the itch". And a man has to scratch that itch from time to time....haha.

Not everyone; most are willing to negotiate. If someone has no inclination to deal, then don't deal.
