Why can't I find the 'right' rifle for me

Did you ever get around to trying out the Ruger Guide Gun?

No, I never did shoot it before it moved on. I ended up trading it on something else I probably didn't need...... Guide gun was a real nice rifle and fit pretty good but I couldn't bring myself to scope it and I already have enough short range bush rifles so on she moved to another gentleman. I'm trying to keep the cabinet to under 20 and a times is a real struggle with who makes the cut and who doesn't!

I have had similar issues with m70 ew stock fit.
Of all the stocks that I own, there is something special about how a Husqvarna 8000 fits. Just right. Comfortable. Trigger Finger right where it needs to be. Have you ever shouldered one of these?

No I have never had a Husky, I do like the look of the stock though, looks comfortable.

freddyfour not having read all of the comments and opinions on what should fit and how it should fit I will offer this bit of an opinion.
You have not owned enough guns ;)
Buy more, shoot more and eventually you will find what is right for you.
Tight Groups,
Rob

Haha, probably best advice yet........I won't let my wife read that. Over the 10 years I have been on this site I have bought and sold over 100 firearms just off the EE and that doesn't include Gun store purchases. Some would say I should have narrowed it down by now, I guess I just need to keep on trucking?

Guns are like golf clubs, ever seen a golfer with one club?

yep, I had one club for a few yrs, as a kid grade 4 and 5, found it at the garbage dump! We lived right next door to a golf course in Wynyard SK for a few yrs, found free balls and Tee's on the course. Buddy and I shared the club knocking balls around. Only ever did golf one time after that time, something like 20 yrs later!

That's cheap in the world of quality custom parts, if you wanted Ralf Martini to make you the same piece you're looking at $2,000+.

Holy crap. That seems a little excessive to me but what do I know.

You can get a williams bottom metal from stateside for well under $200...

Awesome thanks

The rifle is a keeper with beautiful wood, so in the grand scheme the price is not a huge factor.

Ya I have a super grade with very nice wood as well. The whole gun was only $1200 can't imagine spending over half what the gun costs on a bottom metal.

I agree 100%.

I had 4 husky/Carl gustaf 1900 rifles but I'm down to two. One in 6.5x55 and one in 7mm. I love them. Stock fit/design, slick bolt & feeding and accurate. That said I've got a West German Voere Titan II on the way and am eyeing up a heym SR20n. I've completely moved away from North American rifles

I had the same misgivings..... The iron sights are really nice and the white dot really sticks out....... That being said, on an expensive hunt, it's always nice to have them as backups....... And I was pleased with the final scoped outcome.....

Have you handled both side by side?

No, but I have seen an aftermarket replacement a friend of mine paid less than $100 USD for and it was well fitted and worked flawlessly.....

In Hoyt's position, I would slap an aftermarket on it and keep the OEM part for resale of the rifle....... Certainly considering the cost of an OEM replacement...

Just so you know, there is a difference. And the $100 one wouldn't compare.
