Why did you buy SKS rifle?

I enjoy the history of the rifle and I love the look of a nice laminated SKS. I am not by any means a collector but I like my guns to be in excellent condition which is hard to find with milsurps! Found this one online and jumped at the chance to own it. Cheap ammo and a very reliable/robust gun, always up for anything!!!

I had just recieved my FAC in Jan 92 and my brother and I were going to buy skates in Swift. I was just 16 and spotted the sks and a stack of ammo on the backshelf so I started to beg for it. The guy at Sportsmans Den finally gave into me and sold it to me, he was going to keep it for himself. I paid $235 for the gun two magazines and 300 rounds.

2 mags, so you have an SKS-D then???

Because I dislike Anita Neville. Every time she makes her feelings known, I buy another SKS.

I am up over 30 SKS's.

She REALLY doesn't like me.

I bought one beause My best friend has a chicom "D". I swear that that thing as addictive and I kept offering to pay for the ammo I was being forced to shoot from it, then he told me how cheap the ammo was..

When the ruskies came in I had to buy one and it turns out my wife will shoot it as it has no real recoil.

Plus it is mean lookin with the bayo out. :)

I bought my SKS because I wan'nt a assault rifle that I could use for target shooting with the surplus ammo, and use it for deer hunting. You can't do that with a AR 15 because they are restricted. I thought about a mini-30, but I read that they are'nt really all that great. I can buy 4 SKS for the price of 1 Mini-30, so that also helped sway my decision.

Oh ya, since I have a bayonet, when I deer hunt I can shoot them and gut them at the same time and I dont have to carry a knife. LOL.

My buddy & I were road trippin on Thursday when we stopped in to fill the tank with gas. As luck would have it, the local gunshop was a stone's throw away from the ESSO. We stopped in and buddy picked up a chinese 56 with 150 round of FMJ's for $285. Went out into the bush. He lets off five round in rapid fire, hands the rifle to me with BIGGEST smile:D:D on his face!! I chambered 5 rounds, pulled the trigger and had a out of body experience!! Needless to say the 150 round lasted 45 minutes. We were at the gunshop the next morning trading my .17HMR for another Red 56, but this time with 1200 rnds!!! I don't think I'm going to miss the .17 HMR anytime soon or the price of ammo that goes with it!!!:ar15::ar15::ar15:

It reminds me of my girlfriend. Russian, fun to handle, cheap to feed, low maintenance and likes to get dressed up.

I WAS going to buy 500 rounds of ammo.
Instead I bought a nice hardwood Russian SKS and 1120 rounds of ammo (crate) for the same price ($500 vs $450 for Garand ammo)

Bought it for cheap shooting that still has the centerfire kick (.22 just isn't the same, and a shotgun is a shotgun :D)

LOL, I won't even ask if you know how to "field strip" her yet...

Ah, yes the SKS field strip. One of my favorite drills... I can even do it in the dark. She's great with cleaning up after that corrosive ammo. It comes from all the training with the spetsnaz in the ural mountains. But it is true what Winston Churchill said about those russians...

I think I was referring more to the girl than to the gun with that one. But im always confusing the two. The Winnster knew of what he spoke...

well from what i read today about mrs clinton joining the UN bull#### there gonna become scarce and when its shtf time gotta have a lot of ammo
