Why do Canadian guided hunts costs so damn much compared to international hunts?

Not for non-residents under the current firearm declaration form they have to present at customs. As for firearms, 99.9% are bolt action hunting rifles. What changes do you foresee coming in that area?

I see a Liberal government banning ALL civilian gun ownership, and subsequently banning ALL importing of firearms for any purpose, including hunting. And if you think that is far fetched, you have not been paying attention to the trajectory of the Liberal firearms agenda.

I think they'll go to the East German Model, break action shotguns in central storage.

Back in the day they wanted to confiscate Winchester's (the Assault Rifles of the day) from the Indians and replace them with "Fowling Pieces", muzzle loading shotguns because, except for Sheep, that is all anyone "needs" for hunting.

The answer is rather simple…because people are willing to pay such amounts.

😜

and maybe they're worth it ...lol
Guided hunts ain’t my cup of tea.

Being guided, catered to and treated like a preschooler is not my idea of a good hunt.

Shooting the animal is only part of the experience, the other part is doing everything else that leads to shooting…but that’s just me, ymmv.

I'm still hung up on the idea of somehow, someday hunting one of the North American wild sheep. I have been receiving quotes from outfitters this year for the cheapest of the 4 (Dall Sheep) up in the Yukon and NWT.

Most places are booked out to 2028/2029 and are pricing these hunts at $70,000 USD, close to 100K CAD.

Bighorns? They are close to double that. 🤣

It's a rich mans sport. Soon you'll be better off moving to a province and staying long enough to hunt a general tag for cheaper than it would to go on a guided hunt with similar % of chance of harvesting
