Why do i hate my M305?

Waaaaaaaa! My firearm I bought for $450 isn't as nice as a similar rifle that sells for $2400!

Sell it and move on, find a rifle you do enjoy and shoot the heck out of it. Just because lots of people like them doesn't mean you have to.

Chinese stuff is always a temporary mesure, as soon your budget grow, it is easy to do much better... JP.

I sold mine a few years back and bought a pristine Turk Gew88 and an Israeli K98 Mauser with the proceeds. Never regretted it either. Not that there was anything wrong with my M305, I just prefer true Milsurp rifles over imitations......

M14s aren't for everybody, for the fast and close stuff it's a pretty poor tool. If you're into prone 500-1,000 yard iron sights shooting, there is scantly a better fighting rifle offered in my opinion than a stock, quality M14. Maybe a really well built Garand, but that's the only competitor in my mind.

Unfortunately for the M14, it's a very old design trying to be pushed into the 21st century tactical arena. Its high bore axis, weight, and absurdly high optics mounting make it pretty poor compared to more modern options for close and fast or scoped use. Norcs make it further frustrating as you'll often encounter numerous aggravations trying to "smooth them out". You're a knowledgeable shooter so I don't need to say it for your benefit, but I will for those reading the thread, the runaway Powerwagon experienced is extremely dangerous and not a minor issue. Been said here a million times but it's very close to another blow up there.

when i first got it, new, didn't like the feel of it. too..... hunting rifle like for me. i prefer a familiar feel, like an Ar15. anyways, first trip to the range, the hammer won't catch after it fires. goes full auto. kinda fun but a bit on the scary side when the rifle fires when you RELEASE the trigger after firing a round.. after a month, new trigger that was solved.

still feel like a POS to me. found a solution to the feel after i tracked down a stock. installed a Vltor stock. now it feels great, but there is of course a problem. if i rack the bolt back, hammer cocks. if i rack the bolt while depressing the trigger, the hammer follows the bolt back to battery. am i right to think it is the position of the trigger group too low, causing the hammer to go enough down, but not enough to catch the disconnector? dont want to start cutting up the stock and find out it is something else. ideas?

i am starting to think i should just part out the POS and move back to the poodle shooters.

bad pic of the bad rifle, sorry.

The solution is a FAMAE 542. :D

"...like an Ar15..." An AR-15 is a hunting rifle.
"...goes full auto..." Worn or broken sear. Usually. Either way it puts you in possession of a prohibited firearm. Even though it didn't start out that way.
"...the hammer follows the bolt back to battery..." Same sear issue.

Your gun is complete s**t.

You should get one like mine:

the stock is the incorrect shade of green, the handguard is totally the wrong color, whats with the barrel so long? over compensating? i'm not even going to mention the sling swivel is on the wrong side.......

my guess is you drank that jug of 'shine on the top step and thought you were suddenly all that and a bowl of rice and just had to post.

Not to mention that the concrete is pitted and looks like the thresh hold is rotting

just think of these things like those little plastic snap together models you bought as a kid- except with marginally more chance for explosions and hot, tickling brass facials.

Not to say that they don't work out of the box - they just require a little tinkering at times, which, with the proper mindset is satisfying.
Don't fret over the small stuff too much that your read on here (hammer follow is NOT one of those small things, just by the way)- Get out and shoot, it will put a smile on your face, then make the changes and tweaks guys say are "MUST DO"
just my 0.02

FWIW both "aftermarket/drop in" stocks I've used, a m14Dr'd usgi and the blackfeather, had hammer follow.
