Why do I want a Beretta 92F?

I have a 92FS and its awesome. Picked it off the EE for a pretty sweet price. Its a good looking gun, known to be both reliable and accurate, and is just so smooth when you cycle the action. Its bulky though with A large grip, but I have small hands and I adapted to it. Trigger is smooth, the DA is a little heavy but honestly your never gonna use the DA 99% of the time. A swapped out the main spring for a D spring and that did improve it.

Honestly Its a solid pistol, most people that don't like it simply don't like how it feels or don't like the more traditional design (in comparison to modern polymer guns). I like a solid, smooth, metal gun so the 92 ranks well with me but its your personal tastes you have to take into consideration on weather or not you will like it or not.
 
There a good solid accurate gun range gun but I am not a fan of slide mounted safeties. Just make sure you get the model with the removable front sight.
 
First, I would say the fit and finish of a Beretta is second to none. They're a bit bulky, but as a personal preference, I love it. Composite materials just feel cheap to me, where as a solid chunk of metal just feels like it would survive anything. That's personal preference though. They do have a bigger grip, so if you have smaller hands this could be a drawback for you. The reliabilaty of Beretta guns is also top notch. During testing of the M9, some were shown to fire over a hundred thousand rounds with out a misfire or jamming. They're very acurate. Parts and accesories are abundant and you can mod just about anything on it. The DA/SA trigger can take some getting used to and it's pull is a little on the heavy side. Upgrading it with a D-spring can easily fix that and improves it a decent ammount.

It is an older design and doesn't contain some of the newer innovations in firearms, but overall it's absolutely a great gun. You won't be disapointed in owning one. The 92/96a1 is the one to get as it combines a 92 and the best parts of the 9two into the same gun.

why? quality, style, reliability, smooth action, VERY simple field strip, accuracy, heritage. In my hands it fits the best of anything I have tried. Mine is the Girsan copy, but I held and worked with both the Italian and the Turk and the Turk fit my hands better. The finger grooves on the front side of the grip did it for me. That and the solid steel guide rod. Also its $225+ cheaper.
 
You can't go wrong with a 92. Quality and accuracy are good. The only problem you might encounter is grip size if you have smaller hands. The grip is on the larger side for a pistol. I have medium sized hands and it was doable. In the end I chose to go with a 90-two instead of a 92fs because with the 90-two you can get slim grips wich fit my hand perfectly.
 
The opinion on the 92fs is ++ positive, mine works flawless, it's a keeper, don't hesitate,, it would be my survival shooter...
 
I love mine. And my hands aren't that big by the way.
10,000+ rounds through it, and no problems.
Easy to clean.

I got a CZ Shadow and didn't like it nearly as much, though the two are very similar. CZ stays in the safe, 92FS gets used every week including IPSC competitions.
 
now I need to decide if I want to find a way to trade/sell my Smith and Wesson M&P in .40 (which I don't shoot much) and use the $$$ for the Beretta....oh, decisions decisions....thanks for the thoughts and opinins!!!
 
Get the girsan and you don't have to sell, IMO the fit and finish is much much nicer on the girsan. Do the research and at least give it a thought

Other than this, it's a very nice quality pistol and if it fits your hand and you don't mind the trigger (long pull) go for it.

I would hang onto the .40 and get the Beretta as well......money comes and goes , but a good firearm is for life.....I have never sold or traded a firearm that I did not regret doing so later as good firearms are always going up in price...they are like money in the bank .

everyone say to swap to the "D" spring, witch I agree with.
But after your first full strip you'll want the wolff trigger return spring as well.
 
I have a Taurus pt99af. Which is a 92f clone. It's extremely accurate and very comfortable to shoot. I've never ever had any type of failure whatsoever and I only shoot the cheapest 9mm I can find. So I say yeah if you wanna spend the extra and get a beretta go for it or if you wanna save a few bucks get a Taurus or the Girsan.

The slide mounted decocker is a non issue. You never switch it on to start shooting....you flip it and holster. Other then that it doesn't get touched.
