Why do I want a Beretta 92F?

Got the 92a1 for my firstgun as well, 3 years of reliability, everything that was said above as well. Used it for ipsc, fun as hell. Get compliments everywhere on it and looks like a boss in a holdster.

I love my Girsan, and most stuff from the Beretta fits.

I was unable to find who sells Girsan...any suggestions? Thanks again for all the helpful info....really appreciate it :)

Ellwood Epps, SFRC, Frontier Firearms, Al Flaharty, all have/had them in the past.

Also, Keep an eye out on the EE, lots on interesting prices, but many a deals may be had if your quick. Like I said, I scored mine used of the EE for a pretty sick price. She has had a few owners but not many rounds down range when I got her.

Beretta is an awesome gun; accurate and super reliable, great quality too. I much prefer the Inox model, not a huge fan of the Bruniton finish (look a lot like CZ finish). It's also even easier to field strip than a Glock. Unless you want a compact I'd go for the real deal over the Girsan or Taurus, they can be had for 500-550 on EE which is a great deal if you spend some time looking for it.

CanAm usually has them in stock, Frontier too. SFRC has really good prices on the Girsans when they have them in stock....$450 and free shipping.

I love mine. And my hands aren't that big by the way.
10,000+ rounds through it, and no problems.
Easy to clean.

I got a CZ Shadow and didn't like it nearly as much, though the two are very similar. CZ stays in the safe, 92FS gets used every week including IPSC competitions.

I'm just the opposite. The Shadow is far more comfortable for me, and I shoot it way better and consistently.
Having said that, all the good points listed above are true, and it is a looker.
You can't really go wrong with it; but if you get the chance, shoot it side by side with some other 9mm autos. You may find something that 'fits' you better.

The 92F was the fist Beretta I've ever owned. Absolutely gorgeous pistol. 9 Para made in Italy, blue steel.
The 92FS are also nice.....just HATE the tapered dust cover/frame. I think it's ugly
The M9 is super ###y with the best roll marks

I also had a stainless .40 which was amazing. A Beretta USA 96FS Inox.

Get the Beretta 92 .....in 9mm, it's a staple in any collection....right beside a Glock 17, Sig P226, HK USP9.

The Beretta M9 is my primary 9mm now, amazing pistol to shoot.

"I want one" is reason enough. Even if it's really because you watch too much TV. snicker. How well does it fit your hand? Thats the first consideration. Changing grips won't change the size of the frame so try one on for size before you buy.
The U.S. military bought 'em for political reasons, only. There were lots of slide failures early on, or rumours of slide failures, as I recall. However, they were adopted because other NATO countries were complaining about the balance of trade being heavily in favour of the U.S. Then, of course, the contract stipulated U.S. manufacture. Beretta gets a royalty, I think.

I thought they went with Beretta because they were the only ones that had the manufacturing capability. Reliability certainly wasn't the issue.

some of the early ones failed due to many thousands of rounds of +P+ ammo thru them. that problem was fixed on the subsequent models. Plus, you probably aren't going to run thousands of costly hard to find +P+ ammo thru it so, even on one of those older ones, it would be fine.
