Why do people move on from Sightron scopes?

I have heard they are good scopes and I don't doubt that. My shooting buddy uses one and he loves it. However there are a far number being sold over the last 6 months of so and I am wondering if those that have moved on can comment on why and what they moved on too.

I am not interested in hearing from those that currently use them and love them. Only from those people who have used them and moved onto something else.

Thanks,

Eric

Look at the EE and what you see for sale is Vortex - NF - Leupold - a bunch of high end scope - Sightron are far in between those numbers.
Go check and make a list of what is for sale in the EE....and you will see the op post is just trying to stir the pot...

I own one. Here’s the SVSS and my other scopes in ranking from best to worse (IMHO).

1. NF ATACR
2. NF NXS
3. NF NXS
4. NF NXS
5. Vortex
6. Leopold
7. Sightron

That’s my opinion. The Sightron SVSS has some great features. Some that the “high end scopes” don’t have. It’s robust. The turrets have a mediocre tactile feel to the clicks. But the big reason.....

I put it last is because of the glass.

I don’t agree with you..my Sightron beat the Vortex I have seen and used by a mile. Leupold high end are great - but the low end sucks.
Sightron offer good glass - better than Vortex - when you compare price for price - specs for specs.
As for NF - the switch you see in competition are from NF to S&B - NF get scarcer - if a brand going by the way side and fading away is NF...

At the same price point, the NF SHV wins.
And I have to agree with 6mt.
The Viper gen 2 6-24 and the leupold vx3i 6.5 20 has better glass than the sightron.

It's an easy observation to make that there have been a lot of Leupold scopes (to use as an example) for sale too. Like other makes of scopes, there are a lot of different models of Sightrons and they serve different budgets and different purposes. I've sold more Sightrons than Leupolds, but that's because I've bought many more of them.

A more productive question might be related to what people like and dislike about a certain model of Sightron.

You won't see a Vortex or Sightron in my stable, yes they have a good warranty because your likely going to need it.
Sightron too? This thread sure took a sudden turn! The trolls don’t even hide under the bridge anymore...
I think the main reason Some people move on from sightron is that they’re sort of a decent quality starter tactical scope. Like graduating from hunting scopes on your target/prs type rifle. I’ve owned a couple, they were great! Just didn’t fit with the direction I was going. They’re long and kinda plain looking.
The guys who keep them, and love them, are more of the bench target shooter type. 32 or 50x is super nice to shoot targets from a bench. They really are a good scope.
At one time I had a SIII, a viper gen 2 and an nsx to look through at the same time. MY EYES rated them Nsx>Viper>SIII... ymmv

I'm not trying to stir anything up. Geez, some people see bad guys behind everything.

I did like the comment suggesting some had sold one model to buy another Sightron.

I am fully aware that other scopes are being sold but many of them are out of my price range. I was asking about Sightron because I was seriously considering buying one. No other motivation than that.

I currently have a Vortex on one rifle and a Bushnell 4200 Elite on the other.

Not sure now, but before, Sightron scopes didn’t have a lot of ffp options. It seems as people get deeper into PRS style shooting they tend to move toward ffp options. I know it’s huge for me to be able to hold over using the reticle at any magnification. Scanning between targets is faster at 12X. I need the reticle up still apply properly. Could be Sightron has moved their price up too.

Everyone is upgrading to the NXS and atacr

It's been just over ten years my NF on the Remington Varmint. Every July I go to a long range shoot. I put in my dope for 500 from data off of long range hunting forum printout. As long as I stick with my handload formula the rifle shoots to exactly what I expect.
No loss of zero. No rude surprizes, etc.

I wasn't impressed with my Sightron. Everyone said they are same quality as Nightforce. The chromatic aberration on it was horrendous and I sold it.
