So the wife and I are spending the weekend at our cabin without the booger eaters celebrating the 9th year of marriage, our as i refer to it, the near end of my prison sentence lol. Something we haven't done since our first boy was born.
On our way into town for dinner i suggested we stop by the local sporting goods store to have a look see at what they have. I was very surprised when she said ok.
Well as you might guess dinner was put on hold for a bit when i spotted a JR Carbine in the rack. I have been contemplating getting one for a few months now and was surprised to see one there. I probably would have walked out with it if it had been in 9mm and i didn't have a little bird squacking in my ear. Man wife's are so damned reasonable.
Anyway after fondleing it for good while the sales guy pointed at an XCR in .308, then he placed a benelli on the counter. He wasn't done there. Next was an ACR in the.223 and a Kiss Vector in the.45 ACP? THEN LAST BUT NOT LEAST was the TAVOR.
Yes a very tricked out specimen that was the show stealer.
I couldnt belive that all these rifles were in the same place for me to play with.
I haven't been able to think straight since. All i keep thinking about are those rifles and how lucky i was to have a chance to put them all to my shoulder in one store.
So now I'm not sure about the JR. Damn i did it to my self again and I'm going to have to start looking for a better paying corner to support my gun addiction.
On first impressions i loved the feel and ergoes of the TAVOR. But the XCR was a very close second. As for the vector it was a nice rig and felt ok but i couldn't get over how ugly it looked with that big can on the barrel but the wife loved it. Hmm i could be missing something here.lol
The big surprise was the ACR and how light it seemed compared to the XCR. But unfortunately by the time the conversion to NR was done the price would be out of my range. As far as the ergoes between the ACR and thE XCR go no real difference to me, and don't think the extra cost of turning the ACRinto NR would be justified.
I was really surprised at how much that little JR weighed, but felt good shouldered. As for the benelli. Didn't like it at all felt bulky and wrong.
The really really really really did i say really big surprise was that friggin TAVOR. MAN THAT THING FELT AMAZING TO HOLD. I could only guess that it would be even better to shoot. And the wife loved it as well, so at least i might get to sleep on the couch and not the dog house if bring one home.
So after all that i gotta say I'm torn between two magnificent pieces of engineering with the XCR and the TAVOR.
I will still be getting a JR carbine in 9mm but think that will just be an ice breaker for the next purchase.
Although i loved the way the TTAVOR felt i think I'd go with the XCR based on price and available aftermarket. The sales guy said he'd put a package together with optics and a .308 conversion when i was ready to make a choice.
Today was good day.
