Why do we start to Hate some calibers?

Hey Guys, Just skimming through EE and see a nice 700CDL that interest me. Opened the ad to see that looks great in the photo but it is a 30-06. Gross! For some reason ive started to hate 30-06. Dont get me wrong i have a 30-06 but its probably never going to leave my safe. I also for some reason dislike 303 for no reason. Never even had one. Wonder why you start to hate some calibers? :confused:


Have a few. Pellet, BB, 22lr, 223, 6mm rem, 257 Bob, 30-30, 30-06, 308, 44mag, 410, 20g, 16g, 12g maybe a 17hmr in the future
 
those are cartridges, not calibers

I can't think of any good reason to own a 25 caliber, 270, 8mm or 35 cal cartridge. Do I hate them? No

I don't hate any cartridges either as that seems like a complete wast of energy. I do however like some cartridges more then others...:rolleyes:

IMHO If you haven't owned a 35 caliber rifle you are definitely missing out......:stirthepot2:

Interesting, Maybe a 17hmr and a 35 caliber should be on my to get list!
 
I don't hate any cartridges but I have no interest in 243 win and don't see any advantage to it. Much prefer 6.5mm cartridges that can be used for varmints,deer, bear, moose, and elk. Anything above 6.5mm is a go for me. I'd let a 257 Roberts or 25-06 slide but it'd have to be in a desirable rifle or its a no-go.
 
I have no idea why I don’t like the 30-06 , have absolutely no interest in owning one, I have a bunch of other , like the 308” though, I have all kinds of caliber,
Father in-law shoots only 30-06” , my main gun is 7mm
 
I dont hate any caliber, but I have shot enough different calibers to have decided which ones I like and which ones I don't.
 
I used to despise 30-06. At the time I wanted only unique calibers nobody heard of. 30-06 was far too common for the likes of me.

Fast forward to what I call my “efficiency” era of firearm ownership. I went with the 30-06 as my primary long rifle cartridge as it checked all my boxes.

-Available everywhere
-accuracy potential
-decent long range capability
-ability to handle up-to 200gr bullets effectively
-decent shorter barrel performance (under 20” i’ll go with 308)
-barrel life longevity
-did is forget to mention that it’s available everywhere!!!

better not shoot both rifles over a chronograph or you'll never hear the end of it
 
Many feeble minded people hate a cartridge because of other people’s positive opinions of the cartridge.

Some cartridges have more merits than others, some cartridges are somewhat absurd, but I will form my own opinion of them, not get angry and hate because someone else likes them.
 
No interest in any 30 calibres except a 30 30, I particularly dislike 308, I want calibres bigger or smaller, no logic to it, just a weird bias.
 
hahaha man i was the same, I Hated the 308 and 3006 cos EVERYONE had one.........

i began with the 270, so i loved it..

down the track i used a 308 for a season........ loved it
later on used a Marlin 3006 for about a season also, loved it.........

now ive settled on a 7mm08 ..

kind of dislike Magnums but think more the nutt behind the butt typically LOL
