Why do you love your Lee Enfield?

I like mine because I've been in the Sea Cadet and every Monday night I proudly carried one for drill. Now I can shoot it.

And also I make the wood myself, so they will go to my kids when I get some.

I love the looks, the history, the mag capacity, the bolt action, the sights, the fact that it was the first rifle put in my hands.......................

I've had several, still have two, for all the good reasons others have mentioned. One of them I will always have, for the particular reasons that I took my first deer with it, and it was a gift from someone who loved me.

The Lee Enfield series are a bridge between the Victorian times, and today. The SMLE has got to be one of the ###iest battle rifles made - the wood like a fine piece of furniture. That classy exterior then traveled from one side of the globe to the other: in the mud, the blood, the sand and the ice, and got dirty, nasty and dangerous, regardless of the sub-optimal bits of the design, and even more so despite the often retarded command structure of the British army, this rifle kicked ass! THAT was it's first ten years... THEN it evolved to be a major competitor in the machine gun world of WWI. THEN it evolved to be an effective Nazi killer. THEN it fought the communist hordes in Korea. NOW we STILL issue it to our Northern Rangers, because it works. Not bad, for a design first issued in 1888.

The poison maggots are just filthy bits of timber, issued to the serfs, who used them to bludgeon their masters, because they had been kept too unskilled to learn how to shoot. If only the MNs had a two piece stock like the Enfields, they would have made far better clubs, and the poor bastards of Stalin's era would have been able to recycle them a time or two just by replacing the butts, as they didn't really like to issue ammunition anyway.

I only have five Enfields, but I wish I had more...

Why do you guys love your Lee Enfield? Certainly not because of here looks! Is it the because of the dependability and reliability? The 10 round magazine on a military bolt action? Because she still makes an ideal deer hunting rifle that you can count on? The cartridge she uses? Or is it because Canadian soldiers used it in WW1, WW2, Korea, and you are holding an important part of history in our hands?

I love everything about them. And their looks are near the top of the list.

I love my longbranch... Some of the horders out there should share the love with others looking for their own piece of history, not just with the enfield but others too.

The Lee Enfield rifle was built around the specifications of the .311" .303 British cartridge. How many rifles are you aware of that were specifically designed to shoot one calibre? A 174gr bullet at 2440 fps and thats it! This is what the sites are calibrated for and its a system that works!

The Lee Enfield is the best bolt action battle rifle ever conceived by a human brain. When operated by someone that knows how to use it this rifle platform is not only extremely accurate but reliable in the of worst field conditions.

If some of you think that lee enfields are garbage (I've observed that some of you do) then either you unfortunately have an enfield that requires some work OR you don't understand the fundamentals of operation for this rifle.

I win service rifle matches with these rifles and I carry them in the bush. God save the Queen and the Lee Enfield rifle.

Why do I love my Lee Enfield?

They are the best, most reliable, fastest bolt guns ever produced. They are shooter friendly, accurate and easy to carry. How do I really feel? At present I have two, a CDN Airforce survival carbine and a Lithgow LE N1 Mk111* . Do I regret any gun sale? Yup a deadly accurate LE N4 Mk1 T. Sigh! I have owned a couple of commie guns, Mosin Nagants, reliable but slow, clumsy and inaccurate. Great tomato stakes though LOL!:nest:

The two best guns from the past: The Brown Bess it won us the Empire and the LE it defended the Empire!http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/nest.gif

I know that some wont agree but i find the Lee Enfield nice looking. The action is very very smooth, they are very reliable and accurate. They are so good, that 's explain their very long years of service with the british army as well others commonwealth country.

I would love to sell it to you but it's holding up the corner of my deck right now. I will pm you as soon as I have fixed the deck.

Some people think a Sturmovik looks better than a Spitfire too or an Ilyushin better than a Mosquito. :onCrack:
